The
Strip, Las
Vegas, Nevada
|

We head
to The Entertainment Capital of the World, also commonly known as Sin City, due to the popularity of legalized gambling, availability of alcoholic beverages at any time (as is true throughout Nevada), and various forms and degrees of adult entertainment.
This colorful grown-up playground will be our scrapping home this month.
Las Vegas
was named by Spanish travelers in the 1700's who stopped to enjoy its water
while traveling to Las Angeles. It translates to "The Meadows" a
reference to the extensive grassland which used to cover the area.
Over the next century, Vegas hosted a variety of different groups including
Mormon missionaries, miners, railroaders, and soldiers before becoming an
official city in 1905. Legalization of gambling and the "quickie"
divorce requiring only 6 weeks of residence initiated a hotel boom which
started the city on its way to becoming a tourism center.
Modern
day Las Vegas centers around two entertainment areas--Downtown "Old Vegas"
and The Strip. Both draw millions of visitors each year with their
shows, shopping, gambling, dining, conventions, and unique architectural
creations. The Strip--"new Vegas" to some--is bigger, bolder, and
flashier than its more seasoned counterpart. So that is what we will
be this month! Lets get bold!!!!!
Pack your bags and grab your best girlfriends as we head to Nevada to ring in the new year, Vegas Style.

Guest Street Artist
Michelle Boeckermann

Hi Street Sisters! Wow is all I can say when I was asked to be the January Guest Design member. From the moment I first found Scrap Street I have been at home, with a love of gabbing with other scrappers, and the inspiration we share with each other. I can’t believe I have been doing this for 3 years now! I absolutely love the whole concept of the scrapping craft. From layouts , to altering, making gifts, sharing a note in a card , and lets not forget shopping, but most of all I love how it’s changed my outlook on life. It has taught me to cherish not only the good moments but also the atypical moments in our lives. I adore looking back and seeing memories come alive with each page.
I wish you all a fabulous New Year with an abundance of captured moments and a never ending supply of MOJO.
