Color
We are all about the shades of fall
while visiting this hometown for the holidays. Shades
of green, brown, rust, gold, and burgundy--all warm with the
feeling of home.
Theme
Home,
where everybody knows your name and a little bit about your business.
The spot where you can greet folks by name and ask after their family.
Slide a little of that down home friendliness into a layout or two.
Technique
Stamping. Grab those stamps and
make up a batch of cards or some special place holders for
the holiday table. Stamping is one hobby that will
keep you inside and toasty during a Minnesota fall.
Card
Jump on those Thanksgiving cards or
send a warm greeting to a friend. You might even
choose to make up some extra thank you cards to have on
hand. Creating warm and homey cards are all the rage
this month!
Altered item
Canvases--if you are a kit club member then you have one of the latest
all ready to play with. If not, grab a canvas from the art store
and play along.
Stillwater Kit

This kit is filled with down home
goodness! We took the fabulous
fall line from Flair, added in their
velvet ribbon, and stencil alphabet.
Then we headed over to Trace
Industries for the brand new canvas
system and to Queen & Co for a few
little embellies. All for only
$15!

Street Stillwater, Minnesota
|

Welcome to the birthplace of Minnesota. This month we head north to a little town located on the St. Croix River. We’re settling down from all the shopping of Paris last month and buckling down for the winter in a down home setting. Preparing to spend Thanksgiving with family, shopping for that cute little something, or heading outdoors for some winter sports and fun with the kids is what Stillwater is all about.
In 1843, Stillwater was established because of its excellent resources for lumber and the Venue it had for distribution from the mill using the river. The Jewel of the St. Croix soon earned its title as the lumber company of the world by the 1880’s. By 1914 the lumber industry had moved away and taking the population with it. The bustling city was soon to become a lumber boomtown. With the perseverance of the citizens the city resumed its role as a major Minnesota city by transforming its beautiful picturesque views and rich historic district into a booming tourism industry. Bringing to life a Main Street where visitors can shop for art, antiques, used books, jewelry, gift shops and home furnishings all in a unique setting and old town charm. While visiting Stillwater you might find yourself visiting a winery, taking a nice pampered day at the spa, or during the spring and summer season you might even enjoy the many parks along the river, hiking or bike trails, possibly even a hot air balloon ride. Whatever you decide to do while visiting don’t forget to take your camera and bring home the simple good life back to your scrapbook album.

Guest Street Artist
Tonya Grieco

HI - I'm bluesilver! My real name is Tonya Grieco & I'm a 30-something
stay-at-home mom to a beautiful little girl. I'm originally from the space
coast of Florida but currently reside in Ohio with my husband & our
daughter. I have a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and worked in
the mental health field for a number of years before leaving the career
world to raise my daughter. I was inspired to begin scrapbooking by my Aunt
Debi, and have been creating pages for over 7 years now. My daughter is the
focus of most of my pages, but you'll see my whole family in my work. My
favorite scrapbook line is Basic Grey, and I'm honored that my work has been
featured several times in their online gallery. I also have pages featured
in the Making Memories online gallery. It's a huge honor for me to chosen
as Scrap Street's Guest Design Team member for November 2006. I'm proud to
count the September, October and November 2006 issues of the Scrap Street
Ezine among my publication credits.
In addition to scrapbooking, I also enjoy rubber stamping, card making, and
cross-stitch embroidery. I enjoy music, dance and arts in general. I'm also
an avid reader. I am so pleased to have the opportunity to share my
passion for scrapbooking with everyone here at Scrap Street. I'm honored to
share with others the joy of preserving memories for generations to come!
