Knott’s Berry Farm
|

We head to Buena Park California to Knott’s Berry Farm—one of the coolest amusement parks in the United States. Once an actual berry farm, it is now home to 160 acres of rides, shows, and attractions. In the 1920’s, Walter Knott and his family opened a roadside stand to sell their berries and pies. Time passed and the family added a restaurant. As a way to entertain crowds who would wait 2 hours for dinner, they built a ghost town using buildings relocated from authentic western towns. Soon, they grew to be a “year round fair” with all of the charm of a local summer fair along the convenience of a highway. In 1968, they charged admission for the first time and became an official amusement park.
During most of the year, Knott’s is a fun and friendly family park with thrilling roller coasters and entertainment for all ages. But every fall, the park changes and creatures are set free to roam the streets, lurking in corners and startling the unsuspecting. Camp Snoopy becomes Camp Spooky and the once tranquil kingdom filled with tortured souls seeking revenge on those who caused the plague that doomed them to eternal suffering. The Boardwalk is transformed into an eerie zone where sinister zombies search out fresh prey. More than 1,000 creatures wander the park making sure you are never completely safe from the ghosts and goblins lurking about.

This month we capture the fun and the fright of Knott’s Berry Farm in our scrapping. Come along with us—if you dare.

Guest Designer
Linda Carlson

Hello, I’m Linda Carlson, and I am so surprised and honored to be guest designer for this month.
I live in Minnesota and am married to a wonderful man, Brad. We have 5 children all of whom have flown the coop and made lives of their own. Within those lives we have been blessed with 7 grandchildren who of course are the main focus of my scrapping.
For many years, I have enjoyed creating unique cards for all special occasions using my computer. Out of this came my interest for scrapbooking, which started in late 2004 when I began thinking about retiring from my job as a programmer. I had started collecting supplies with the hopes of finally getting all the family pictures together in one spot. Instead I just kept collecting supplies and not really doing much with them. That is until I joined
ScrapStreet in late 2005. Since joining the group here, I have delved into many different forms of scrapping and altering.
ScrapStreet feels like home and I can’t imagine my life without all the wonderful people here.
