Main
St, Isla Mujeres, Mexico
|

Pack your
bags and grab the sunscreen, we are on our way to vacation on Isla Mujeres,
Mexico located just across from Cancun. The weather will be 80 degrees
each day as we enjoy the sun, shopping, and scrapping. Wander with us
down Main Street through the shops and out to the beach where we will sip
cool drinks and recharge our batteries.
During Mayan
times, Isla Mujeres served as the sanctuary for the goddess Ixchel, the Mayan
Goddess of fertility, reason, medicine, and the moon. It was officially found by
explorers in 1517 and given its name, which translates to island of women, because
of the many female shaped idols found there. For the next 3 centuries, it
was primarily used by pirates as a safe place to leave their women and treasure
allowing it to live up to its name. After Mexican Independence, it became
a fishing village and more recently a popular vacation spot.
Buildings
along Main Street are painted in traditional bright Mexican hues, but are faded
by the strong sun. The street itself is made of bricks worn smooth by use.
Out in the distance the sky changes from blue to brilliant shades of pink,
yellow, orange and purple. The water is always a calm blue and the sand a
soft white. The people who live on Isla Mujeres take life nice and
easy--living in island time. Lets join them!
Be inspired by the colors,
warmth, and texture of this beautiful island street.

Guest Street Artist
Jennifer Halleck

Hi! I'm Jennifer and I'm thrilled to be the guest designer this month! I've been
married to Michael for over 8 years and we have 3 wonderful daughters! I started
scrapping when I got married but only got really serious about it over the last two
years. I am definitely an avid collector of supplies! I love to have the newest
and the latest and greatest!
