Color

Combine your burgundy and green with a touch of gold and you have the colors of this event.

Theme

Holiday Spirit.  Spend a bit of time capturing the true meaning of your holiday.  Let go of the stress and find that moment that makes it all worthwhile.

Techniques

This month we are playing with pattern.  The stalls of the market are a mixture of colors and items that blend perfectly.  Grab you patterns and play!

Card

We spend a second month doing those Holiday cards since most of us will, in deed, spend a second month creating them.

Altered item

Picture frames.  Make them for gifts or just to showcase that special family portrait.

Book

This month our book club will be reading:  The Color of Water : A Black Man's Tribute to His White Mother  by James McBride.  Thanks Bonnie for the selection!  Looking forward to hearing what you all think in the Reading Road.

Hauptmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany

We head to Old Town section of Nuremberg to experience one of the largest Christkindlesmarkets in Germany.  About 2 million visitors attend the outdoor celebration of food, toys, and holiday spirit, which has existed since 1628, and begins on the Friday following Thanksgiving with a prologue by the Christ Child and continues until the evening of December 24.  The Christ Child is a girl 16-19 years old with a minimum height of 5'4".  Six contestants are selected by a vote after their photos are published in the newspaper with a jury making the final selection.  She remains in office for 2 years and travels extensively.

The entire market program is quite varied including at least 70 different events including a light procession of 2,000 children with lanterns.  Christmas market is a feast with roasted chestnuts, gingerbread, almonds and mulled wine.  Stalls filled with colorful toys and decorations line the streets.  Once it gets dark, it is truly a feast for they eyes with lights to rival the biggest of cities.  Take a second and add some German Christkindlesmarket spirit to your holiday season!
