17 Mile Drive

In the early 1900’s, Samuel F.B. Morse had a vision of preservation for this area with a breathtaking forest and gorgeous coastline and became the first visionary and cofounder of Bebble Beach.  This area is often described as “The greatest meeting of land and water in the world.”   Horse-drawn carriages navigated along 17 Mile Drive long after the Spanish explorers mapped the Peninsula in 1602.  Pebble Beach is home of 8 spectacular golf courses hosting annual tournaments since 1929.  This natural beauty attracts thousands of tourists every day armed with maps of the forest and trusty cameras.  The amazing 17 Mile trip will take you to the highest elevation in the forest displaying an unbelievable breathtaking view of the forest and wide open Atlantic spread out at your feet.  This exquisite coastline, part of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, includes the most photographed tree in the world, The Lone Cypress.

An area this close to heaven has been a muse for over one hundred years. Writers, such as Steinbeck and Robert Louis Stevenson, have staged sagas along this shoreline. Movies, including Vertigo, In Love and War, Parent Trap, and Escape to Witch Mountain, have used Pebble Beach’s gorgeous habitat as their back drop.  With such an amazing combination textures, colors, and moods let 17 Mile Drive be your inspiration to create breathtaking scrapbooking projects.

Let the tranquil waters, soft sands, and beautiful hues of  17 Mile Drive inspire you this month!
