Jeanine DeOre Designs

Welcome to our April featured designer spot and a very warm welcome to talented designer Jeanine of Jeanine DeOre Designs! Jeanine has created the soft and misty colored kit Happy Spring for us this month, so let's find out more about her.

In 2004 Jeanine discovered scrapbooking, starting with basic layouts using paper, punches, stickers, etc and printed her photos using Photoshop Elements. Discovering she could "tweak" her photos and add text and borders before printing, Jeanine realized she could also do her journaling on the computer in a coordinating color. From there, a light went on and Jeanine started creating entire layouts on the computer! She would create all the backgrounds to match the photos, digitally place the photos on the page, print the page out and add some embellishments. The final step was when she started scanning buttons, ribbons, etc to use over and over again. A digital scrapper was born!

Jeanine formed RAKScraps.com in 2004 to help new digital scrapbookers learn techniques, and she grew the site to over 40,000 members before selling it in 2008. Jeanine also sold her designs through her own store. In 2008, Jeanine signed with an art agent and started licensing her designs to various manufacturers. Her artwork can be seen on scrapbooking paper and kits, journals, book covers, recipe books, greeting cards, notepads, photo albums and more. You may have even seen her lines in Costco, Sam's Club, Archiver's, Ross, Michael's, Barnes and Noble and more!

Jeanine says her style can be whimsical or shabby, depending on the theme of the kit. Most of her designs are more about the color than anything, but Jeanine believes no paper is complete without brushwork. Jeanine draws her inspiration from magazines, ads and pinterest, especially for color schemes. I currently live outside of Princeton, NJ with my two children, but I grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and went to college/worked in Wisconsin as a CPA. I miss the midwest!
