Creativity with Canvas

When you hear “scrapbooking” and “canvas” in the same sentence, most people think of what we call “scrapbooking on the wall.” Or in other terms, a canvas project that we create to hang on a wall that uses our scrapbooking supplies. But we can use canvas in many ways on our projects! It’s trendy, it’s fun and it’s easily altered to go with any layout or project. It can give your layout a soft look or an artsy look. You can stamp on it, paint on it, spray ink on it, sew it, or embellish it! Really, it is one of those amazing products that will work with any style and any project.

On my “She’s a Helper” layout I added a diamond shaped piece of canvas. I stamped on it and then used it as a design element on my page. I just layered it right in there with everything else. And Pooi’s amazing “Life Is” layout uses a piece of canvas for the background. It came with the printed words on it, but you could easily do that yourself. And then Pooi sprayed ink on it, creating an artsy and fun look for her layout. And Rebecca created banner pieces out of canvas on her creative “2gether” layout.

She’s a Helper by Pamela Young

Supplies: Paper: My Mind’s Eye, Alphabet: Cosmo Cricket, Alphabet Stickers: Echo Park Paper Company, Lace: Webster’s Pages, Pearls: Prima Marketing, Ink: Stampin’ Up!, Canvas: Canvas Corp, Adhesive: Helmar, Other: fabric, paper doily. Tools: Stamps: Unity Stamp Company.

Design Notes: That brown scallop border is actually that bottom part of a paper from My Mind’s Eye. Usually one cuts it off and throws it away, but I used it on my page! I just covered the part that had their name and logo on it.

2gether by Rebecca Keppel

Supplies: Paper: Cosmo Cricket, Cardstock: Core'dinations, Alphabet: Cosmo Cricket, American Crafts, Journaling Spots: Cosmo Cricket, Stickers: Cosmo Cricket, Canvas: Canvas Corp, Ink: Tsukineko, Pens: American Crafts, Twine: The Twinery, Staples: Ranger Industries, Other: wood tags. Tools: Stamps: Hero Arts, Sanding Tool: Ranger Industries.

Design Notes: I cut the points off a canvas star to make the small pennant flags. Since the wood tags were a plain light color I stamped a wood grain pattern in brown ink to make them stand out.

Journaling: The moments when you two are sweet together are the moments that I will always remember.
