Birthday Bash

Diana Brodeur

9

Birthdays are a time of celebration. A time of friends, family, and, of course, presents.

Birthdays signify another year has passed and another wonderful year full of adventure lies ahead. A birthday party can be daunting in the fact that there are a lot of preparations that need to be made before the actual event occurs but all this work is always worth it in the end.

Take a few moments to snap a few pictures of the birthday hats, wrapped presents, and all the decorations. When capturing birthdays, make sure you take the time to take pictures of your subject blowing out their candles or their first bite of cake. Renata, Moni, and Izzy did a great job capturing these precious little moments that are over in the blink of an eye.

Design Notes: Corrugated cardboard made a perfect faux cupcake wrapper. The cupcake top is plain cardboard covered with pp and buttons and a candle in the shape of the number 1. I backed the balloons with cardboard and tied them with twine so they appeared to be floating.

Journaling: You're five years old! It's hard to believe. It seems like just yesterday that you were a baby, learning to walk, talk, feed yourself, etc. Now you are a big kid. Teaching your little sister all the things you think she needs to know -- how to play ball, how to jump off the couch, and how to get Mommy and Daddy to give you two treats. Soon you will be starting school and, while Mommy is planning on homeschooling you {and you won't have to leave the house}, it is still bittersweet that you are old enough to start school. You are still our Bud, our Monkey Moo, our little boy who needs his Mommy and Daddy. Just, please, try not to grow up too quickly. Enjoy every moment of your life.
