Welcome to this month’s ride on Discovery Drive. This month, we asked Ria to meet us here and to stop and chat with us. She showed us some of her amazing work. She chose 4 layouts, but in those 4 there is more versatility than in most artists’ entire portfolios. It’s easy to fall in love with the surprises she keeps in every layout she creates; whether it’s hidden journaling, a knack for photos with depth or color that pops right through you, her pages are filled – and I mean filled!! – with delightful eye candy. Thank you, Ria, for stopping by and letting us get to know you; it was a pleasure both in chat and art!

Journaling:
Luis & Nadya, Seaworld, Gold Coast, Aust. Nov 2006
Design notes:
To literally take a bite out of FUN, I used my Crop-a-dile to "bite" into the chipboard letters. I've always loved the fun effect that circles give a page but, I'm such a linear person that I have to literally order myself to use them more often. I love how all the circles on this page work together to reinforce the fun vibe.

Nothing makes me prouder than to call
all of you mine! Your love for each other is
obvious & your laughter, contagious. I wish
you'd stay this way forever! Love always,
mom! Photo - June 2007 Designer's notes: To
match the fun Love, Elsie papers, I drew my
own scallops around the border and framed
the photo. I also cut-out my own arrows from
the fabric sheets for added texture. I love
flowers and they're my favorite go-to
embellishment.

Many may doubt it, but my life really is quite perfect, there is nothing else I can ask for. I have a gorgeous loving husband & 3 wonderful kids -- I must have done something good. Photo July 2007.
Wife, mother, homemaker, scrapbooker, shopaholic, hoarder, foodie, cake decorator, photographer wanna-be, dreamer, doer.
Design notes:
For the 2D butterfly, I stamped & cut-out
the image two times, glued the middle (body)
part, one on top of the other then added
foam tape underneath each wing for some
lift.

Design notes: I printed the excerpt
on a transparency, ran it through my Xyron
and adhered it to the photo. I enjoy cutting
out images from patterned paper and layering
flowers with other flowers and
embellishments. For the scalloped borders
framing the photo, I followed the patterns
on the paper and punched holes for a softer
"lace" look. |

2007. (Excerpt from Daddy's Girl by Garrison
Keillor) The prettiest legs that I ever did
see, belong to a lady who belongs to me.
Lift up her legs and take off the diaper,
Get a damp cloth and carefully wipe her. Up
with the ankles, swish with a rag. Throw
away the diaper in the garbage bag. Lay down
a clean one, tape it shut, Beautiful baby
with a nice clean butt.

About the designer
I'm Ria Mojica from Manila, Philippines. I am wife to Buddy and mom to 3 kids (Luis - almost 7, Nadya - 5 and Bianca - almost 2). I am a stay-at-home mom and aside from scrapbooking, dabble in cake decorating and exploring photography.
I started scrapbooking in 2003 after a trip to Disney World in Florida and have been hooked ever since. As can be seen from my layouts, I refuse to be boxed into one particular "style". I love trying out new techniques and generally go wherever my mood takes me on a given page -- romantic, free-style, quick & simple, whatever. I do lean towards layouts with clean lines but always try to add an element of fun. I am so addicted to scrapbooking that my husband has banned me from entering my scrap room when he gets home from the office!
I am currently a DT member of Scrapbukan (an online store catering to Philippine-based scrapbookers and the only one with a DT) and just joined the Scrappin' Moms (a group of moms offering scrapbooking services and hosts Scrapfest 2x/year). I am also acting editor-in-chief of the only Philippine-based scrapbooking ezine, Scrapbytes and have my own column, Ria's Corner.
