Really Raw

 Dora Phillips

I find scrapbooking trends to be such fun.  Just like fashion, they come, they inspire, they move on--leaving little bits of themselves behind to linger in our lives.  Whether a "now" color or a "must have" item, trends grab us and shake us up a bit.

What is in fashion right now?  Raw materials for one.  Notebook paper, cardboard, "naked" chipboard are all appearing on pages and in stores.  For September, these materials are fabulous!  They easily exude the back to school feel.

Cover Winner!

Journaling:

name: Darren birthdate: May 11, 2001

hair color: blond

eye color: blue

special qualities: the smartest and sweetest boy in the world!

Design notes: I filled in a journaling card for quick and easy journaling and placed it behind the photo. I used a horizontal block to break up all the vertical lines and I used round buttons and patterned papers with dots to break up all the straight lines. Always add something unexpected to make your layouts more interesting.

My Boy by Janneke Smit.  Supplies: Cardstock: Basics, Kraft Paper:  Scenic Route, Notebook Paper: Scenic Route, Patterned Paper: Scenic Route, Journaling Card: Sweetwater, Wooden Buttons: Sweetwater, Chipboard Ruler: Scenic Route, Deco Scissors: Provo Craft, Pen: ZIG millennium.

Journaling tag: 3 months to go till 4 juli 2007. Then I become 40! I always hear from people that they found it horrible to become 40, but that's not how I feel. I see it mostly as a reason for a big party. To be a party animal and be thankful for everything in my life. Cause I have a lot to be thankful about. Even if I don't feel great at this moment.... So 40......lets come!

Design notes: The two tags with the baby pic and the journaling are behind the big picture.

40 by Miranda Wedekind.  Supplies:  Cardstock:  Scenic Route, Bazzill, Paper:  WeRMemory Keepers, Metal:  WeRMemory Keepers, Brooch:  My Mind's Eye, Chipboard:  Maya Road, Flower: Prima, Other: felt, fibreboard.

Editor's Note:  Look at how the bold colors really pop off of the kraft background.  It is such a nice alternative to white for a neutral backdrop.

Everything...I Learned in... by Renee' Morris-Dezember.   Supplies: Cardstock: Kraft,  Mesh: Magic Mesh, Tag:  Avery, All Other Supplies: Scrappin' Sports & More.
