Design Note:  I turned the large brads into buttons by cutting two holes out of each with my eraser using a round hard brush. I used the same technique to cut the holes in the notebook paper. To pick up the green in the photo I recolored one of the buttons and the background patterned paper by changing the hue/saturation/lightness of these images.

Journaling:   On your first day of Kindergarten I was a lot more anxious than you, Darren. It was the first time you would have special education after school for half an hour, three days a week. I had no idea how you would react to the fact that the other kids were going home and you had to stay.
