Each year the first day of
school brings children with clean shoes, new
backpacks, and parents holding cameras to
schools and bus stops all over the world.
That first day is one of joy, sorrow, freedom,
and captivity--depending on who you ask.
This month's free kit is ready to help you
convey all of those feelings on your pages.
We hope you enjoy!

Journaling:
We were pretty excited about getting to
go to the new school when it opened. White
Bluffs is a beautiful school...and now we
are getting ready to move to Spokane. You
will get to start the school year at White
Bluffs, but hopefully before to long we'll
get up to Spokane and get you settled in a
new school.

Notes:
Trying to make a digital layout look "real" is always a challenge to me. I
don't expect that the layout always will,
but it's fun to try - Taking the library
card "out" of the pocket and layering is off
the "page" was just a silly way to provide
information and give a bit more realistic
idea to the page. |

Note:
I turned the large brads into buttons by cutting two holes out of each with my eraser using a round hard brush. I used the same technique to cut the
holes in the notebook paper. To pick up the green in the photo I recolored one of the buttons and the background patterned paper by changing the hue/saturation/lightness of these
images.

First day of
Kindergarten by Janneke Smit. Supplies:
Back to School digital kit by Spink and Linda for ScrapStreet.com,
Staples by Christina Wall, Fonts: Stencil (for title); Blink Janneke Style (for journaling).
Journaling: On your first day of Kindergarten I was a lot more anxious than you, Darren. It was the first time you would have special education after school for half an hour, three days a week. I had no idea how you would react to the fact that the other kids were going home and you had to stay. But it worked out very well since Mohamed, who was in the special ed class as well, became your best friend. 08/31/06 Love You
