This month on our drive to discovery, we found Lisa Johnson, a bold and colorful scrapbooker. Lisa takes color head on and finds perfect accents to embellish. Her photography is second-to-none, using lots of close-ups and framed edges to tell stories to and about her subject(s). Somehow in each of her pages, she manages to direct the focus just where she wants it, whether it is by using that color trail, frames and layers, or embellishments that seem to leash the eye. Lisa, your work is as lovely as the smile on this little girl!

Journaling:
Some days, when we have nothing to do, we go outside, just to goof around.
Today, you were singing and twirling around
as if you didn't have a care in the world.
You had a look of great joy all over your
face. I like seeing you like this. I like
knowing you are content in your little
world. I like knowing you are happy.
Editor’s Note:
Monotone layouts are nothing to be afraid of. Pick up on the main color in
your photo and run with it. Color the rest
of your page around that main color and then
throw in one or many colors behind the photo
to add just that perfect touch of focus.

Faraway Dreams by Lisa Johnson. Supplies: Crazy about plaids: Samara Guglar, Wishes and Dreams: Tina Chambers.
Journaling:
To those who can dream, there is no such place as far away
Editor’s Note: To help draw the focus
onto the subject in the photo at the center
of the page, add an even border around the
entire layout to encase it like a frame. Try
the same with a frame around the photo and
double or triple mat. This creates a
target-like effect, drawing the attention
inward.

Just Lovely by Lisa Johnson. Supplies:
Club Digital: December 2006, Vintage Mocha Dream: Valeri Brumfield, Copper Penny Alpha: Tina Chambers, Antique Mats: Lauren Bavin.
Editor’s Note:
Using small prints on patterned paper is
sometimes tricky. Don’t be afraid to use a
small pattern on your paper, especially if
your photo is big, bold and close-up. Large
embellishments and big titles help balance
the small print as well.

Design notes:
I love layering and blending. I tried
to use both styles and still keep the focus
on her face.

You:
The True Original by Lisa Johnson. Supplies:
One of a kind: Tina Chambers,
Overlay: Tina Chambers, DSP Brilliance
Don’t: Suzanne Walker.
Journaling:
One of the most precious gifts a person can ask for is that of having a child to love and cherish. You have a special way about you that makes everyone want to be around you. You have a very contagious laugh and a smile that will melt anyone’s heart. There is something quite magical about your eyes. They seem to tell great stories of love and peace. Every time I look at you, I think how truly blessed I am to have you in my life. I don’t know if you know it, but you are unique. There will never be another you. I hope that as long as you live, you will grow to cherish yourself and love the person you are inside. I hope that you will stay true to yourself, no matter what comes your way. I believe you will. I believe you have that special something that will last throughout your whole life. Maybe it’s just because I am your mom, but every day that I am with you, I feel like I am better for it. I am not sure what it is about you that makes you so lovable. All I know is you are. It seems funny, but I enjoy watching you play. I enjoy watching you light up when you get a new toy or learn a new song. I enjoy being your mom and I enjoy you as a person. Thank you for always showing me how easy it is to smile. You have taught me many things about love and patience, hope and courage. I hope that if I teach you anything, it will be to always remember who you are, and never change that.

About the designer:
My name is Lisa. Most people around the scrapbooking community know me as boobearsmama1 or LisaBoo. I have been scrapping for about 3 years, now. I was recently on the digital elite team at DSP. It was very rewarding. I have always loved to design things. As a child, I loved to draw and paint. I always loved to write. I love that I am able to combine both of those things with scrapping. I am happily married and I have a beautiful daughter. My daughter is my whole reason for scrapping. She is almost 7years old, and has now decided she loves scrapping, too. I love watching her complete her own works of art. One day, she may be a featured designer. :) Being chosen as a featured designer is a great honor to me.
