Happy September!! Guess summer is just about over for most of us. But that’s ok with me…I could definitely go for some cooler weather and less yard work.

The weather seemed to be a big topic for conversation on the streets last month. Several of us had weeks of triple digit temperatures to deal with and others had lots and lots of rainy, soggy days. Hope September’s weather is a little kinder to us all.

But one good thing about lots of rain and overly hot days…more excuses to stay inside and scrap! If you are behind on your scrappin’, clear your schedule and come join us for our weekly Saturday Nite Scrap sessions. With challenges, a lift, and sketch, I’m sure you’ll find something to jumpstart your mojo.

And even better than our regular SNS, is our monthly special street crop. You haven’t been to one? Where have you been!?! All the challenges are based on our monthly featured street. They are lots of fun and you might even learn something…like Smurfs were born in Belgium…who knew! Oh, and there are prizes to be won too. Michelle (MichMc) was the big winner for our Dinant, Belgium crop and Dora won the hourly challenge drawing…WTG, girls!!

Katey was our bingo winner for August and will be receiving a yummy collection of chipboard bingo loot. Hope everyone signed up to play September’s “anything goes” bingo…should be an interesting month.

Some BIG news for August was the arrival of little Erin Faye Melcher. Welcome to the world, Erin, and congratulations to Denean and her family.

Ohhh…almost forgot to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! What? A little early? Well not too early for a scrapstreet Christmas. Spinkeeshy plans to have us all prepared way ahead of time this year and I personally can’t wait to get started. Sounds like lots more fun and lots less stress than my usual way of waiting ‘til the last minute. Be sure to stop by the Promenade and check out the Holiday fun. And sign up for Secret Santa while you’re there. Elmira Reindeer is back and ready to party!

Time for Resident of the Month:

This month’s recipient is a talented scrapper and digi designer. She’s also a special gal with a very big heart. She is an advocate for fostering and adopting children and has set an example for us all by opening her heart and her home to three children who needed her. She has had a rollercoaster year with an exciting move to a new house and some sad family health issues. But even with all of that and with three small children keeping her busy, somehow she still finds a little time to share giggles with us. So please join me in congratulating Christina for being this month’s featured resident.

Time for Jakey's Corner:

Hiya, Scrapstreet girls and spiderman guy! It’s me, Jakey…back at Aunt Woey’s house. I’ve been sooo busy this summer. Went on vacation to Florida and had lots of fun. Went into the ocean and saw crabs!! And alleygaders and pooky nakes too! Well…ok…maybe NOT alleygaders and nakes, but it does make for a more interesting story, dontcha think?

I also had a birthday! I had a spiderman cake and got lots of cool toys…and now I’m THREE years old.

Now that I’m practically all grown up, I’m having to learn how to do “grown up” stuff….like taking turns. But it doesn’t really work out too well. People are always trying to take stuff from me…even when I clearly tell them that it’s “Jakey’s turn.” Grown-up rules are confusing.

Well…better go now. Gonna go help Aunt Woey get groceries. She likes it when I go with her. I help put stuff in the cart, I make sure she gets important stuff like cookies and apple juice and I even remind her of what stuff is used for…a lot of work for me, but you have to make sacrifices when you’re all grown up. See ya next time!!

Were you published in this month’s mag? If so….YAY for you!! Drive on down to the garage and pick up your designer pub ‘n mag license plate. And don’t forget to check out the call list for upcoming issues. Our editors are standing by and can’t WAIT to see your stuff.

Some stuff we learned in August:

1. If your crab is found alive after being missing for 12 days, he NEEDS to be named “Lucky”.

2. They have a special device used to cook rice called a “rice cooker”…hard to believe, I know, but I looked it up and it’s TRUE.

3. If you have girls, you MIGHT want to learn CPR. ‘Cause if your daughter mentions she got a “lemondrop”…(no matter how innocent it turns out to be)…your husband might just stop breathing.

4. If you’re looking for a new type of exercise, try Strippercise…looks like lots of fun! Not your thing? Well then…check with Spink…hear she has a GREAT workout routine. Ummm…might want to make sure you fill up your gas tank first though.

5. If your mom tells you she just got some pretty “leaf” earrings…you MIGHT want to inspect them before you let her wear them out in public.

Well…that’s all for now. Hope everyone has a spectacular September and hope that back-to-school means lots more scrappin’ time for us all. CYA on the streets!
