Chic Street

 Jennifer Wuthrich

With Halloween quickly approaching we will be taking the kids out to all of the festivals, parties and, of course trick-or-treating. While all of these events are fun, and they are great opportunities to take photos of the kids…it also brings along with it one thing that I truly despise…what you ask? Crowds!

For as long as I can recall I have had a dislike for crowds and waiting…perhaps you could say I am not a very patient person. I guess if I was being 100 percent honest…you might even be able to attribute it to my “genes”…you see my father has a hard time waiting in or being in crowds.

I also share with him a claustrophobic fear or feeling like my space is being invaded… I need my space! Also I have a hard time getting in to elevators, crowded hallways or being held down. Until recently, I was convinced I would always have that feeling at the pit of my stomach of sickness for crowds or crowded situations.

That is until recently, when clustered or “crowded” (if you will) embellishments on layouts and cards have become a hot new trend in scrapbooking.

Design notes: I used cream-colored paint and painted the outside of the photo mat and the 12x12 paper to make it "pop". I used lots of distressing ink to give the layout texture and dimension, and layered chipboard on top of flourish rub-ons to give it a vintage feeling. I used lots of patterned paper to cover the chipboard flowers and inked all of the edges.

Laura Kay by Kary Lewis. Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill, Paper: BasicGrey, Epoxy stickers: K&Company, Chipboard: Deluxe Designs, Technique Tuesday, Heidi Swapp, Flowers: Prima, Brads, Epoxy tags, and Paint: Making Memories, Rub-ons: Basic Grey, Ink: Ranger, Other: glue dots.

Journaling: I wish I could have known my mother as a young woman..it's difficult to understand her now with all of the differences between us. What hopes and dreams did she have as a 16 year old girl? Did I have the same dreams when I was her age? Did I wish that one day I would have a daughter that I could be close to? Somehow, I feel my mom and I were a lot alike.

Journaling: All you need to be is you. Your true self shines with more beauty than your eyes can see.

Design notes: I cut the stars from the Cherry Arte patterned paper and used foam tape to give dimension to the stars. After placing the stars around the photo, I used a Sharpie paint pen to doodle dots all over the layout and on the chipboard.

You by Melita Ganoe. Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill, Paper: Cherry Arte, Paint pen: Sharpie, Paint: Making Memories, Chipboard: All My Memories, Gems: KI Memories, Ink: Ranger.

Journaling (around circle): Grandma W. knit this sweater for Christmas this year. My how handsome you look in it!

Design notes: The Sandylion foil paper is very shimmery and lush. I hand drew some circles in the background. The stars and circles were made using my Cricut (George cartridge), inked them all and then layered them. Note the tiny picture within a picture.

Always Yours by Penny Brellenthin. Supplies: Paper, Stickers: Sandylion, Ribbon: Tie One On Monthly Club, Die Cut: Cricut, Ink: Tsukineko, Chipboard: We R Memory Keepers, Pen: Zig, Adhesive: Ad Tech.
