Season of Change

 Michelle Boeckermann

Autumn is a season of much change, when nature begins preparations for a time of maturity for the cold winter months ahead. I once read “autumn is a good season for beginning to live gently”. I couldn’t agree more with that quote. The colors begin to change around us, leaves begin to fall, and there is a nip in the air. The vibrant colors in nature have always brought warmth to our scrapped pages, showcasing the fall holiday moments and memories we keep. It is a season of change, and a season of splendor, with harvests and pumpkins, promises of hay rides, and pumpkin pies. Watching children enjoy the bounty of the season, or the more playful side only brings joy to a scrapper’s passion and heart.

This month's cover winner brought us the beautiful subtle touches of the season, with a fun frolic attitude. It won our Magazine staff’s heart with such an adorable picture and the beautifully scrapped page. Close in the running; take a peek at our other season of change layouts featuring our reader’s children and the fun side they find in Autumn.

Cover Winner!

Design notes:  By stamping "darling" all the way around the photograph I broke up the title on the lo, and was able to use it to help frame the photo. As a play on words I also attached the word "lil" right to the photo to help draw the eye to the photo and bring out the contrast of the large pumpkin to my son's small size. And for color appeal I used mostly neutrals with only touches of orange to keep the focus on the photo with it's own rich shades of orange.

Darling Pumpkin by Charlotte Johnson.  Supplies: Cardstock:  Canson, Bazzill, Paper:  Basic Grey, Ribbon:  Offray, Martha Stewart, Letters:  We R Memory Keepers, Queen & Co., Stamp: Just Rite, Brads:  Making Memories, Ink: Color Box.

Design note: When stamping your images for a perspective effect, stamp your images in the lightest shade of ink first and layer on your darker images. This will create a feeling of perspect and depth.

Fall Frolic by Allison Cope. Supplies: Paper: Making Memories, My Mind's Eye, Cardstock, Brads: Bazzill, Inks: VersaColor, Stamps: Fontwerks, Art Warehouse, Transparency: Hambly Studios, Leaves: Prima, Frills: Doodlebug, Letters: Heidi Swapp, Bookplate Die: Sizzix, Pen: Micron, Other: thread.

Journaling: I really wanted to take some fall themed photos. So off we went to Park's. You loved wandering in the field discovering the bright orange pumpkins and the corn on the cob.

Design notes: I placed the Flair "seed packet" paper onto some felt and sewed them together...it gives it a quilted comfy look. I also made my own swirls with more of the Flair paper and did some hand stitching using DMC floss to create this fun page!

Pumpkin Hunter by Debbie VanMarter.   Supplies: Paper: Bazzill, Flair. Floss:  DMC, Other: Yellow felt, Font: Hattenschweiler.
