Meeting Peggy Severins

The last class of the day was the class I looked forward to most. The teacher of this class is someone I know and admire for two years now. When I just started scrapbooking in 2005 I ended up in an American DT. One of these DT girls was from Holland too. As I was a beginner in every way I was actually quite intimidated by her. So intimidated I was a little reluctant to speak to her. She made the most beautiful layouts and I só just wanted to be able to scrap like her. I got used to being on the team with her pretty fast and she is so sweet, friendly and easy going, didn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all. Over the years we got to meet and we wrote each other emails. Peggy’s talent grew and she started to design for several manufacturers' DTs. (at this moment Junkitz and Urban Lily).
I still admire her style extremely much so when we started making plans for going to the
S-A-G I was so exited to meet her again. Then she got asked to teach classes there and I rescheduled my class so I could take hér class.
I booked this class together with Eva and we both looked forward to meet Peggy in real life again.
During the day we were on the lookout for her so maybe we could have a cup of coffee together. Unfortunately we only met outside the classroom in the hallway when Peggy had to run back to teach another class and the both of us just finished a class and went shopping.
A quick wave and a few more hours to go but the excitement grew. Then FINALLY at the end of the day (believe me, it wasn’t a horrible day, it was fantastic, but this was the ultimate experience for me that day) we went into her classroom. It was so much fun to meet again so lots of hugs and kisses further we sat down because of course she had to work too.
We couldn’t resist trying to get a glimpse of the project we would make and she showed us the projects she made for the other classes she taught.
Beautiful in every
way.

We were also very excited to work with the new Elsie – line.
That day was the first day it arrived and at that point it wasn’t even in the stores, so the timing was PERFECT. The project was a spread but during class we had only time to make one page. I loved it like that so I never made a second page.
Peggy also uses sewing on her pages but since I didn’t bring my machine to class ;) and since I wanted to make it a tiny lil bit more my own I replaced the sewing with glitter glue which went perfectly together too.
Here is my layout from
class. For once, I stuck pretty close to the
example:

What I love most about Peggy’s work is the feeling for details and the fun little touches to her projects. We cut out the flowers and punched little holes in it giving it more dimension. The dimension was also added by inserting bling on the circles.
Peggy used two ribbons and didn’t tie them together but sort of folded them
on the blue paper on the left bottom corner and on the right upper corner are staples, stapled in a cross to resemble “x” as for kisses.
The notebook paper was punched with a hole punch and then we tore the edges to make it look like it was actually ripped out of a notebook.
A perfect class with a brilliant teacher. Would take another class any day.
