Overhaul Alley

 Christa Parker

You just spent the last year of your life scouring through “Bride” magazine. You searched for the perfect reception hall, booked a caterer, found the perfect “DJ”. You tried on 50 wedding gowns and examined your derrière in a mirror more times than you care to remember. Then there was the hunt for a veil, tiara, and shoes. You stopped long enough to “smell the roses”. Stopped in 30 different florist shops that is… to pick out wedding flowers. Next came gathering six of your closest friends, all different shapes and sizes, for the ritual of choosing the bridesmaid dresses. Now, let me just stop here, if I may. If you have never been a bridesmaid, you may not appreciate the agony of the ritual. It is virtually impossible to find one style of dress that looks good on six different women; with six different tastes in clothing and very little in common in the first place. Sometimes wine or medication helps the pain of this quest.

But there is still more to do… You pick out your invitations, plan your ceremony and spend endless hours looking into your beloved’s eyes. Then comes the realization …you had not planned for “reception favors” for your guests. You want something that has meaning, that says you care about them and that you really want them to share in your special day. These “Sweet Creations” will be sure to please your guests; A sweet “Kiss” inside a decorative tin, a candy stick wrapped in ribbons and bows, or the sweet sentiment given in a special card created by you…all given from the heart.

Designer Notes: Use your imagination to fill with Hershey Kisses, almonds, mints.  Almost anything you can think of would look fabulous!

Decorative Metal Pail by Christa Parker.  Supplies:  Paint: Making Memories, Metal embellishment: All My Memories, Other: ribbon, flowers.

Designer  Notes: Each favor contains 4 sheets of white cardstock with the name of the guest printed at the bottom, plus 4 envelopes, to use as personalized stationery. The favors did double duty as name cards and were placed at each guest’s table setting. The cardstock and double heart image matched the wedding invitations.

Personalized Wedding Sets by Kate Rehmus.   Supplies:  Cardstock: Basic Bazzill, Rubber Stamp: Inkadinkado, Ink: Ancient Page.

Designer Notes: We used the three colors of candy sticks that corresponded with our wedding colors, red, orange and yellow. We tied them with a couple strands of raffia and attached the tag with our names and wedding date. It was really easy and very affordable and can work for any occasion.
