Here Comes the Bride

 Lori Burdeshaw

Oh to be a bride on her wedding day. Little girls dream about it. Grandmothers tell stories about it. Whether the wedding is something cozy and intimate or outrageously elaborate, it is definitely one time in our lives that we will never forget. Why? What do we remember the most? Is it how many candles that were burned, or the exact color of the flowers? Will it be the details of our dress or who attended the reception? I think that after time, the memory of those things fade and what is remembered the most is how we felt on that day. Being a bride is truly experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions. It is one of the few times in our lives that we feel joy, fear, excitement, nervousness…all at the same time. I recently heard the expression “paper mache bride”--meaning that the bride has the same nervous smile on her face in all the wedding photos. That’s why I love that these layouts show the brides’ different expressions…a peek into what she might have been feeling on her special day.

Designer Notes: I kept the layout simple to focus on a great picture and journaling.

Journaling: I love our photographer, Alvaro, for capturing this moment. There are many things I love about this photo. I love that Wendel is kissing me sweetly. I love how I am holding my dress from dragging on the ground. I love the full view of my veil and how my hair is pulled up and beautiful. I love that the feelings of love and excitement surrounding our wedding day come back to me as I look at this picture.

A Beautiful Moment by Ashley Schultz. Supplies: Paper: Chatterbox, Cardstock: The Paper Company, Flower: Heidi Swapp, page Pebble: Making Memories, Font: Time New Roman, Date stamp: Making Memories.

Designer Notes: Using digital templates makes layouts a snap.

Journaling: Radiant on your wedding day. I already feel like we're known each other a long time. Sister by marriage, friend by choice. Welcome to the family!

Dawn by Di Hickman. Supplies: Digital Kit: beautiful you papers and embellishment pack, sketch #11 Shelle Pukas designs (www.shellepukasdesigns.com), Alpha: shabby princess alpha (www.shabbyprincess.com).

Designer Notes: I cut the flowers, leaves and scroll from a piece of patterned paper from the same collection making instant matching embellishments.

Quote: When children find true love, parents find true joy.

When Children Find True Love by Lori Burdeshaw. Supplies: Papers by Fancy Pants designs (Mulberry Road collection), Chipboard corners and oversized chipboard ric-rac: Deluxe Designs, Round tag: Quickutz, Other: Pink ric-rac.

Journaling: I didn’t even realize this picture had been taken until I saw the proofs weeks after the wedding. I was so happy that day, but you couldn’t tell that from this picture. As I stood outside the church with Dad, I knew my life was about to change forever. And even though I knew it was going to be wonderful, I couldn’t help but be a little scared and nervous.
