I admit it.  This month's "coloring book" kit seemed like such a cool idea when I started it, but as I got rolling I wondered what were we really going to do with it?  Would the designers be able to use it?  And when the designers received the kit, there was quite a bit of head scratching.  Still, they are a courageous group and they dug in to create and overcome some ideas about what a kit should be.  In they end, everyone brushed up on techniques and had fun sharing what they discovered with you.  They also created some rocking stuff!  Take a peek.

Designer Notes: I used the same paper twice for this page.  Once I colored black and cropped it for the sides of the photo as a frame.  The second time, I colored it green, thinned it, and used it to border the entire page over the grunge action.

I split the word art above and below the photo to become both the title and journaling.

Designer Notes: Sometimes, the picture says it all. There is no need for excessive journaling, embellishment or treatment on the page. This is one of those moments. In truth, we don't remember what we were thinking, talking about, or doing. Finding a perfect quote is sometimes the simplest - and best - embellishment.

Techniques: Bevel and Emboss on the ribbon, flowers and quote. The silver  in the embossing, the white in the ribbon, and the purple in the flowers,  "bling", and heart were the colors of our wedding.

Designer Notes: This LO is all about layering. I extracted the white background from the paper and duplicated part of the floral pattern. I then overlaid a coloured texture, changing the blend modes and applied a gradient based on the colours of the photo and placed this beneath the floral layers. I extracted part of the arch from the photo and enlarged it to provide more colour interest under the floral pattern. Then the photo with a matching colored mat, outlined with white for emphasis, added a bevel to the word art and created the staples and rustic stitches.
