Street Maps

It’s August and summer is starting to wind down. With fall being just around the corner, cooler weather is inevitable, which makes this a particularly busy time for people. Families are trying to get their vacations in before the kids go back to school in September, people are making time to head to the beach, pack a picnic for the park, grab a hot dog at a local baseball game, and barbeques are working overtime to get dinners made for the last of the backyard gatherings and pool parties. Just who has time for scrapping???

Let your creativity take the easy route. Instead of spending what little time you may have for scrapbooking staring at blank papers, trying to decide on a page design, use a sketch to help speed up the process. You may get the barbeques, baseball games, and vacations in and still have time for yourself and for doing something that you love.

Editor’s Note: This sketch has wonderful layering and balance. The space for two photos and large journaling area makes it perfect to tell your story.

Sketch by Lucy Chesna.

Journaling: This little girl always has a kiss for her Daddy...and Daddy hopes it will always stay that way ...and that she will never give her kisses away to anyone else! (You see...that's Daddy's greatest fear!)

Design notes: I just love bright colors and black! They are a lot of fun to play with! Try using them in a layout...they really bring your photos to life!

Daddy's little hot lips by Jennifer Wuthrich.  Supplies: Adobe Photoshop 6.0, Digital sign, Stitches: Rick (scrapstreet.com), Sketch: Lucy Chesna.

Editor’s Note: Notice how Lucy gets your eyes to follow around the page by placing her large circles in a triangle. Starting from the lower left corner, the left side being where we start reading, then following the longest line of the triangle cutting directly through the photos to the title and down to the last circle by the subtitle. These subtle hints can really make a page pleasing to your eye and keep your interest.

At the Aquarium by Lucy Chesna.  Supplies: Patterned Paper: Coppered Out, Cardstock: Bazzill, Chipboard Letters: Heidi Swapp, Stickers: Topline Creation, Embellishments: Cloud 9 Rain Dots, Karen Foster School Clips, Hand Stitching and Doodling.

Journaling: I can't believe I finally scrapped these pictures of us at the aquarium in 2004. These are the only ones that I have of this day. It was a hot and humid day and I was using a instant camera because I forgot my own camera. We had a great time and took so many pics but we will never get too see them. The place that I gave my pics to develop damaged almost the whole roll of film. They could only save a few pics but the ones they saved where dark except for these two. These are the two that survived, survived for us to remember how we had a great time together as family on a hot summer afternoon in 2004.
