Lift Lane

  Janice Badger

We did two lifts during our El Conde Scrap Weekend in May. The first layout, presented in the July edition of ScrapStreet.com magazine, had 5 photos, lots of journaling and embellishments around the title. This page by Jennifer (bugnsamsmom) was the second of the two, and it was a completely different style. This layout has a single picture, color blocking and lots of “white” space. The simple elegance of the page attracted several scrappers, and the white space gave several more the desire to give this lift a try.

Editor's note:  Digital software makes getting those straight lines so easy.  Paper scrappers can use digital techniques to achieve the same lines.

A Letter To Amelia by Jennifer Hennegan.  Supplies: Beautiful You kit by Angela Young at Digitals at digitalscrapbookpages.com.

Journaling: Amelia, You are my firstborn. You are the one that I learn from and learn for. You are such a precious soul...so kind, so thoughtful and so emotionally driven. You've been through so very much in the last few years and I wasn't able to protect you from all the hurt and I'm sorry. As your mother, I'm supposed to keep the harsh reality of the outside world from getting into your tiny glass universe. When your daddy died a little piece of each of us died with him. You've been so very brave and your faith in God has only gotten stronger. And for that, you are an inspiration to your family. Each day I lose a tiny bit of my baby. You're growing into such a beautiful and intelligent pre-teen. I am amazed at all that you can do. To see you perform with your cheerleading squad makes me proud beyond words. You are fearless, you are strong and you are not shaken. I want the world to know that I am the lucky one because I get to be your mom. May 1, 2007

Design note:  Aspect of original that inspired the lift: The lift appealed to me because I have such a hard time with open space. The coloring Jenn used was so beautiful it just called to me to scrap simple and to enjoy the colors.

Ruston by Michelle Boeckermann.  Supplies: Digital Kits: Alpha by Christina Wall, Blue Butterflies by her: Elephants and ribbon made by Michelle Boeckermann to match.

Journaling: Laugh at yourself & you will never cease to be amused. (Quote by Shirley McLaine that has been jumbled some to fit my LO.)

Editor’s notes: The additional vertical and horizontal lines of the stitching and ricrac keep your eyes moving around the page.

Laugh At Yourself by Christina Hutchings. Supplies: Jennifer Barrette's All My Love Kit.
