Happy August! Hope you’ve all enjoyed your summer so far and you’ve either been scrappin’ or out having fun and making new memories to scrap. Let’s take a look at some fun stuff from July.

The Dream Team contest started in June and continued into July. It lasted for 20 days, had a total of 6 challenges, and 15 teams competing. I confess that I usually enter contests and don’t finish them…don’t scrap well under pressure…LOL. But this one was so fun and stress-free, it was just a joy to be in it. I really loved participating and seeing all of the great layouts that were done. If you haven’t checked them out, run on down to the gallery and take a look. I can just about promise that you will be inspired by something you see. Big congratulations go out to Janice and Katey for being the winning team. They did some awesome work in the contest and deserve another big round of applause. WTG, girls!! Thanks to Dora for putting the contest together for us and to the judges who helped with it.

Four Scrapstreet gals got the chance to go to CHA in Chicago. Sounds like they had a great time hanging out together and they brought back lots of stories for the rest of us. They have us all excited about the new products coming soon. Be sure to check out the upcoming kits. Knowing Dora (and her shopping buddies), I bet they will be packed full of fun and exciting new items. I know I can’t wait to get mine!

While the girls were gone to CHA, the stay-at-home crowd had a slumber party. Lots of slumber party themed challenges and good old fashioned gossip made for a fun weekend. Lindsey was the winner of the prize drawing and will receive a little package of goodies. Thanks to everyone who played.

If you missed the slumber party, don’t worry. Just come on down to the Town Square every Saturday night for a heaping helping of scrappin’ fun. We have sketches and lifts and bingo and lots more to keep those creative juices flowing.

We’re still playing monthly bingo too. This month’s theme is chipboard so there will be a pile of yummy chipboard loot for the winner. Get on over to the arcade and sign up now. Amber was our July winner...congrats, Amber!

Resident of the month:  This person once listed their personal mantra as “In the here and now, there is no stress.” After reading back over some of her posts, I think that fits her perfectly. She always seems to be in a positive and upbeat mood and doesn’t seem like she allows many things to get her down. She’s a fun and friendly person—always ready to share in a giggle. She’s also extremely generous with her praise and support. To say that she is a gifted scrapper is a HUGE understatement. She has her own amazing, jump-off-the-page style and we are very lucky to have her on our team. Please join me in honoring Janneke as this month’s celebrated resident.

Time for Jakey's Corner:

Hiya, scrapstreet!

July was a pretty busy month for me. I went to see the Perry Potter movie. You heard of him? He’s this boy that likes to wave a stick around at stuff and make magic happen. I found a stick at my Aunt Woey’s house and I’ve been practicing up on my magic spells. So far…I’ve only managed to make the kitty mad at me…but I’m sure I’ll catch on soon. I think we are gonna go see Transmorfers next week. I’ll letcha know if it’s any good.

We had a birthday party for uncle clyde and there was party cake! The cake said “for clyde AND Jakey” but they only sang to HIM for some reason. Not really fair, but what’s a guy to do?

I got to talk to my Auntie Spink on the phone. I ended up having to “tell” on Aunt Woey ‘cause she wouldn’t let me play with uncle clyde’s waddet AND she wouldn’t even give me the apple juice I saw in the refrigerator. Well…she didn’t call it apple juice exactly. She said it was something called RUM…but it LOOKED like apple juice and I’m SURE it was probably close enough, right? REALLY need to teach Aunt Woey about sharing.

My daddy is home now so I won’t be able to come help aunt Woey out for a while. I know she’s gonna miss having me here. I mean….who is gonna help her out with all the housework? You would be surprised at all the stuff that ends up being scattered around on the floor. Why just last week, I threw a paper plate into the washing machine and put some socks in the trash for her. Maybe Hannah and Wes can pick up the slack when I’m gone.

Well…guess I better go. Aunt Woey is asking me what I’m doin’ again. Geesh…that woman asks me that about a zillion times a day. Then when I tell her “nuffin”, she STILL comes in to check. Think she has trust issues or somethin’. Anyway…*blows kisses*…bye-bye!!!

Only

Did you get your work published in this month’s magazine? If so…congratulations! Make sure to pick up your pub ‘n mag plate from the garage. Pop it into your siggy line, check out the upcoming calls and start working on your next one. We LOVE to see your work!

Things we learned in July:

1. Carnival clowns can be sorta mean…but REALLY funny.

2. MANY things can be explained by Janice’s “testosterone poisoning” theory.

3. Life would be so much easier if we all had wives.

4. Kids get extra hyper when given sugar. Well, ok…we already knew that. But it was fun hearing how Terry’s Caitlyn learned about it.

5. Dora’s neighborhood is just the COOLEST place to live. Ok…we already knew that too. But her stories just keep getting better and better. Hope you’ve been keeping up with them!

6. Doggie breath fresheners work…just ask Kelsey.

7. The definition of “moron bowl”.

8. If you can’t afford to have a home security system installed, don’t worry…just try this.

Hope you all have a fabulously fun-filled August. CYA on the streets!!
