Potluck

 Michelle Boeckermann

Potluck scrapping style was on our kit clubs menu this month! Potlucks are great opportunities in the traditional way of getting everyone together. We did just that with this fun game of you bring it , you use it! Everyone that wanted to play with us brought a scrapping item to the game. In the end we ended up with a long list of elements, styles, and stipulations that we would all follow to do a layout. The only rule was use every thing on the list, and let your style show through. I believe they all came out aces with their layouts and some of us even learned a thing or two about our own styles.

Editor’s note: Our Cover Winner!! Janneke took all the elements of the game and pulled out a wonderfully designed layout. It's balanced beautifully and showcases a silly side of her daughter in true divine scapping.

Rooster by Janneke Smit. Supplies: Paper: Basic Grey (Blush), Cardstock: Bazzill Basics, Chipboard Heart: Basic Grey, Chipboard Letters: Scenic Route, Rub-ons: Daisy D's, Basic Grey, Ribbon: SEI, Bling: Heidi Swapp, Brads: Junkitz, Date Stamp: Staples, Ink: Rubber Stampede, Colorbox, Journaling Pen: ZIG Millennium, Markers: Marvy Memories, Sakura.

Design note: Using so many different things on a layout was quite a challenge for a simple and clean scrapper like I am, but by combining and grouping elements I kept the layout from becoming cluttered. I combined flowers, hearts and red in the patterned paper. For the stamping I simply used a date stamp with ink and I used just a few small pieces of ribbon, a couple of brads and some bling for small accents. I turned my photos into black and white with just a hint of color on top to match the papers. It was a challenge, but I absolutely love how this page turned out!

Design note: I have to say that this was definitely a challenging layout to create. I never have put so much stuff on a layout before but it was neat to see what evolved from it.

Journaling: From serious to silly in one minute flat. That's what I love about you!
