Hybrid for the Holidays

Over the past months I've been sharing ways to include hybrid into your scrapbooking projects. This month I thought I'd share ways to create hybrid holiday cards. Whilst there is already a wide variety of traditional holiday products out there, by opening up to hybrid we double those possibilities with digital kits, brushes and embellishments. Hybrid really does open up a whole new world. Whether you choose to add digital elements to cards, or print off digital papers these hybrid cards really do pop!

One of the easiest ways to incorporate digital into traditional cards is to print the papers. I find this is super easy, just print off a 8.5 x 11 sheet, cut into 2, and fold. Voila, 2 card bases. Simply add some cardstock, rub-ons and a sticker, and your hybrid card is complete!

Another way to include digital elements is to print of the embellishments. Straight edge elements make this super easy. Just print, trim and add to your card.

One of the most fun things about hybrid cards is photo cards! By incorporating digital techniques you can simply begin by adding frames or test to your photos. On this example the whole center panel is digital, printed and added to the card base. Yes even the stitching! Such a time saver, and we could all appreciate that at this time of year!

I hope we've inspired you to try including some digital elements into your traditional cards. And don't forget, even digital cards when printed can be livened up with buttons, brads and all kinds of embellishments! You can find more hybrid holiday creations in the December Pixel Place article, and in the Scrapstreet Hybrid Gallery.
