Winter Scrap- a – Ganza part 1
Meeting Jen Starr – again-

I never went to the Scrap a ganza organized in November
before, but since the one in May is always such a success I decided to give it a go this year. I registered just in time before I went to Pula – Croatia, so I had all the time in the world to look forward to it.
Sunday, November 18th started really early. My alarm clock went
off at 6 and I rushed to get the kids ready and catch my train at 7.30. I took my new magazines and traveled to Heerhugowaard where my friend Eva picked me up. We continued the journey by car and ended in Haarlem at a Hotel.
It is always so exciting to register, receive your goodie bag ( oh yeah, we all got a goodie bag) and look around to see who is there and what is there. The hotel looked pretty great, much different then the one Egmond where the summer Scrap a Ganza takes place.
We were there at 9 o clock, our first workshop started at 10 so we had all the time in the world to shop..so we thought..
To bad the shopping part opened at 10!
We walked around and explored the surroundings. It was fun to see that at this time a class of 60 people
were already scrapping their hearts out.
On our way to the restaurant we passed the “vip- room”. It was extremely fun to see some of the teachers walking around (
Jen Star, Emily Adams, Karen Burniston) and it got us even more in the mood.
Super excited we sat in the restaurant, drank coffee and yapped till almost 10.
We were the first ones in the classroom and we got to pick our seats. Much fun as we changed it about 4 times.. debating whether sitting close to the teacher.. lots of space or great light would be the ultimate criterion to pick seats.
We went for great light.. hoping Jen would walk around… and she did. The class was filling up quickly and I am amazed over and over again by the amount of people in class not from Holland. This time I sat close to an elderly lady from Scotland and I really had a blast. She had fun stories to tell, a great sense of humor and I simply loved hearing her accent. There were people from Germany, Britain, Scandinavia and France.
This was my second time taking a Jen class and also this time she didn’t disappoint me. We made a Christmas sign counting the days till Christmas.

I really really loved the idea. I never saw these signs (Creative Imaginations) before and I love the idea of a countdown. Thinking Amber would love it too, I got even more enthusiastic.
I loved the little beads on the wire, a great final touch and of course the sparkling “stickles” (got to keep a bottle.. YAY!).
Of course, Jen wowed us with something new. She made a shimmery mist by mixing water with a few drops of re-inker and adding perfect pearls to it.
We sprayed it on the numbers which gave a very artsy, shimmering effect.
Very beautiful--especially for the holidays. Jen entertained us with stories about scrapbooking cruises.
At the end of the class I wanted to have my picture taken. I needed a “new” one. I also learned that if I give my camera to my friend.. and we both use different settings.. you can’t just switch them.
I got some really weird pictures.. that’s why this version is in black and white.
It didn’t make the meeting less special however. I loved my Jen class and I hope you will get the chance to take a “Jen Starr class” someday. Whether it’s on a ship or in a regular classroom.
See you next month for the second part of the scrap-a-ganza.
