 Michelle McClung

It’s the season to count you blessings! Be thankful for all that you have in your life. Have you started counting? I have. I actually try not to stop all year. Life makes that hard sometimes. I’m sure you know how it is - you get busy with kids or work, throw in a bit of stress from family or money issues, and top it off with some surprise drama from friends or your spouse and there you have it! The inevitable issues that can so quickly consume you and make you lose sight of what’s really important. I think that’s why we still celebrate Thanksgiving. I used to think that some holidays were a farce; why should we have just ONE day to tell or show someone you love them? Or designate only ONE day for mom who works so hard ALL year? Why should we have a day to specifically remember our gratitude for all that we have? Then I realized- it’s because we get so busy and sometimes forget, so it’s put on the calendar to remind us. Not because we don’t care or are any less thankful, but because we don’t always slow down enough to count all of the little pieces that make our lives great.

Slow down, be thankful, and check out our wonderful submissions for this month’s sketch.

Design Note: I found myself creating circles again! Love them. I just think they are fun and add interest to a page.

Design note: As soon as I saw this sketch I knew it was something I wanted to create with. It needed nothing new, I felt it held perfect balance in all aspects, making it easy to do a layout.

Journaling: Maggie likes cheese from a can. Tilting your head doesn't make it easier to get off.

Cheese Treat!! by Michelle Boeckermann. Digital Supplies: Modish boy by Shabby Princess, Fonts: Waltograph, Blue Cabin.

Design Note: I thought this was a perfect grouping of photos to tell the story of how my dog likes to swim (even though she doesn’t do it well). I followed the rule of threes for interest - three circles, three embellishments - and to keep your eyes moving around the page.

Bull Dogs Don’t Swim!!! By Michelle McClung. Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill, Papers, Chipboard, Rub-ons: Cherry Arte, Other: Pens, Twine.

Journaling: I adore the expression on Evan's face as he imagines himself building a fantastic sandcastle. Rhian seems to be enjoying the fantasy too. I took these photos of the boys on a beautiful Autumn day when the boys stayed with us 5 days.

Sandcastle by Lynda Choquette. Supplies: Digital Kit: Flourishing into Fall by Tracy King at Scrapbook Elements
