Overhaul Alley

 Christa Parker

There are few things that bring memories to the forefront as much as favorite foods from my past. Those treasured memories of family gathered around the table to share a meal will remain a strong part of what I love about family time together. I loved it when I was newly married and would call my mom to get a favorite recipe and we would spend hours talking about how to make our favorite foods. This allowed me to stay connected to her in a personal way that no one else could share.

I sometimes hold my mothers favorite cookbook close to my heart, thumb through the worn pages and read the notes written in the margins. Her handwriting is so like mine. She doesn’t cook much any more, but her favorite recipes from this stained, worn book will span generations.

It seems a special gift to share this part of our lives with others. Whether it’s one recipe or a collection, we give a part of ourselves like no other gift can share. This holiday season share a treasured memory and recipe with someone you care about. Let them carry that part of you and your family with them into the years to come. When they pick up those recipes, you will be remembered. Now, that’s special!

Design Notes: I bought a 6x6 photo album, covered the front and back cover with pattern paper. I found a website for the recipe cards.

6x6 Recipe Book by Christa Parker. Supplies: Paper: EK Success, Cardstock: Bazzill, File tabs: Sizzix, Recipe cards: printed off the computer.

Design Notes: I bought the current crock pot book at the check stand, and went through it , pulling out the cards for the recipes I knew I would use. I laminated them, used the Cropadile to punch holes, and put in eyelets. I scrapped the front and back with the flowers, bling and metal letters and laminated them together. This keeps it nice and easy to clean off if anything happens while cooking.

Crock Pot by Michelle Boeckermann. Supplies: Paper: We R Memory Keepers, Flowers: Prima, Ribbon, Metal Letters: We R Memory Keepers, Bling: Heidi Swapp, Other: Heat laminator, Ring, Cropadile.

Recipe Book; Mom's Best by Michelle McClung. Supplies: Paper: Flair, Cardstock: Bazzill, Cardstock Stickers: Flair, Letter Stickers: Carolee's, Other: Ribbon, Brads, Rub-on letters, Folder.

Journaling: My famous Chocolate Chip cookie recipe is hidden in the file folder.
