Scrap Naps

  Lindsey Krauss

Why, near midnight, am I deciding to write this? Perhaps it is for the full feel of the nature of the subject. Or maybe it's because we all love to scrap -uh- crop till we drop. I'm thinking that's where this subject stemmed from - and then it went beyond! Are you ready to take a look at our little nappers?

We've all documented a sleepy picture at least once in our scrappy lives. My question is: how did you do it? Let's take a look at the girls in our layouts. The resting girls seem peaceful and serene and more angelic than any other creature on earth while sleeping. Heather's little sweet is close to princess-hood with her pink silk and comfy surroundings… all embellished by matching paper and bold, princess colors. Katey's little one is the tiniest of the bunch, well-deserving of her tiny floral arrangements. And the last, well, warmth is key for McKenna's nap - both in hats and colors.

Design note: Don't all girls love matchy-matchy? Just look how perfectly Heather's striped papers match her daughter's pillow! Using girly colors to enhance femininity never goes out of style.

Our Little Sleeping Beauty by Heather Casper. Supplies: Paper: Miss Elizabeth (Daddy's Girl), Cardstock: Die Cuts With a View, Stamps: Stampin Up! (Doodles), Rub-ons: Die Cuts With a View, PC: Girls Are Weird Alpha biggies, Staples: Making Memory, Flowers: Prima, Other: Ribbon, Ink.

Journaling: Hidden - We finally got you sleeping with your eye mask on. Daddy went to tuck you in and came to get me after he found you sound to sleep. Too cute! 9:23 pm, 09/10/07

Design note: I overlaid the frame at an angle to the photo to add a bit of interest and changed the blend mode so it looks as though it was stamped on. I made the floral border from the single flower.

Curled Up by Katey Green. Supplies: Digital kit: Echoes of Asia by Jessica Sprague, Photo: S Jessop, Font: Eskargot.

Journaling: "Always kiss your children goodnight, even if they are already asleep" by H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Design note: Since the idea of the picture is warmth, I used warm pinks and muted pinks/mauves to scrap this picture. I didn't want bright colors to distract from the serenity of the photo or of the moment.
