Card Corner

Jennifer Wuthrich

With Mother’s Day just around the corner I am reminded of just how grateful I am to have a caring and attentive mom.  I have truly been blessed.  My mom has set a good example for me about what it’s like to truly embrace motherhood.  She’s a good listener, patient, kind, caring, and amazingly talented!  Each day, I am amazed by just how much more I love and appreciate her.

Growing up I did not always have this insight and appreciation for my Mom.  Like any teenager I am sure there were times that she wanted nothing more than to strangle me, but she didn’t.  Now as an adult and a mom myself, I find myself turning to her for advice and support, and she is always there.

Design note: The card was based on Card Sketch #4 from the challenge blog Card Patterns which was created by my dear friend Michelle Bertuzzi. To add dimension, I cut out a 4-inch circle from cardstock and punched it with the Fiskars circle border punch. I then added the Prima flowers on top and a button on each flower center. Finally, a small butterfly to finish it off.

Ma Card by Gracie Ann D. Tan.  Supplies: Paper: KI Memories, BasicGrey, Other, Flowers: Prima Marketing, Chipboard: American Crafts, Circle Punch: Fiskars, Adhesive: UHU, Other: ribbon, lace, buttons, butterfly.

Design note: I like how these little quails look like they are following their mother.

I Love You Card by Reneé Morris-Dezember.  Supplies: Paper: Bazzill Basics Paper, Pink Paislee, Stamps: Unity Stamping Company, Other: machine stitching, ribbon.

Mother’s Day Card by Melissa Priest.  Supplies: Paper: Prism, Making Memories, Ribbon: Bo Bunny, Butterfly: Scenic Route, Punch: EK Success, Adhesive: Scotch.

Sentiment: Happy Mother’s Day

Design note: To make the scalloped edge, I used a circle punch, and punched out circles. Then I used my ATG gun to run a strip of glue across the edge of my pattern paper. After aligning up the circles so that only half of each one was showing, I had a quick scalloped edge!
