Coffee Fix

“To inspire and nurture the human spirit- one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time.”
- Starbucks Mission Statement
I fully admit that I’m a Starbucks addict. My addiction started shortly after my first son was born when I was simply seeking a little afternoon treat for myself while he napped. Before I knew it, my now and then Tall Carmel Macchiato turned into an everyday Venti triple shot White Chocolate Mocha paired with a chunk of delicious coffee cake! I was looking for every excuse I could find for rewarding myself with my new found piece of heaven and any justification for spending so much on coffee.
Now, I know I’m not the only one. As a matter of fact there must be a lot of us because Starbucks has 16,120 stores in 49 countries. What is it about Starbucks that creates such a demand? What makes a coffee house not only stay in business since 1970, but grow to world-wide popularity? It goes beyond just having great coffee. Starbucks says it best on their web-site: they are passionate about the quality of their coffee, they create a great standard of working conditions for their
baristas, they are all about making a human connection with their customers, their stores are designed and decorated in such a way that creates a haven for people to give them that break and enjoyment that is so often needed, and they believe every store is part of a community as they strive to take responsibility to be good neighbors. A great business plan for any business actually.
I know the feeling I get when I drink a cup. Hard to put in into words, but it’s just that sense of “Ahhhhh.” Go grab a Starbucks and enjoy how the following artists describe their coffee experience. Notice how each one uses fun, bright colors to convey their happiness, and Jasmine Low has even used an actual drink cozy on her layout.

Design
notes:
I used circles to tie in the design of the layout:
circle stamps, circle doily paper, circle patterned paper and circle- shaped stamp punch out. I used the back of a KI Memories die-cut patterned paper to create the 'steam swirl' from the cup and stamps to create a border for the layout.

Journaling:
Starbucks...ahh...I can never say NO to a nice cup of coffee from
Starbucks. Love it hot, iced or sometimes even frap. My favorite drink
would be Hazelnut Mocha...done any way!

Journaling:
It's a coffee experience. Hidden
(behind photo): "Mocha
Frappucino please..." That's what we usually
order at Starbucks. Since they opened here
in the Philippines years back, we've always
loved hanging out there and having our
Grande-size drink. I've actually tried out
other coffee shops but I just keep on coming
back to Starbucks. It's still our preferred
coffee drink. A lot of occasions have been
spent there as well. Even that teddy bear
set is from there. If that's not brand
loyalty, I don't know what to
call it anymore.

Love Starbucks by Liza Bermudez. Supplies:
Paper: Luxe Design, Sassafrass Lass, Scenic
Route, Paper Trunk, Die-cut: Pink Paislee,
Alphabet: American Crafts, Making Memories.
Design Notes: I wanted to focus the design on the fact that we keep on coming back to Starbucks for our coffee fix. I decided to feature for the focal photo a Starbucks coffee cup and include smaller sized photos of us enjoying it. The main photo helps lead your eye across the photos.
For the color scheme, I took the lead from the colors of the coffee cup and the Starbucks logo - green and red. By using a green background, then splashes of the color red, it unified the colors without overwhelming the design.
Note, if you have limited space for journaling, consider hiding it behind your photos or your patterned papers. This gives you enough room to share the story without being constrained by your design.

Not only can I not go a
week without by Starbucks brew, but I've
become a card collector too. I think I'm
addicted.

I Think I
Am Addicted by Diana Kennedy. Supplies:
Paper: Marah Johnson by Creative Imaginations, Making Memories, Grungeboard: Tim Holtz, Ink: Stampin’ Up!, Pen: Sakura, Rub-ons: Bo Bunny, Chipboard Heart: Stampin’
Up!, Markers: Marvy, Photo Collage Software: (of Starbucks cards) generated Shape Collage Software.
Design
Notes:
I took photographs of the Starbucks paper cup
and cut it out to give it more emphasis by mounting it onto cardstock
and placing it over the card collage using pop squares (giving a 3-D
appearance). The collage of Starbucks cards was created with a free
program called Shape Collage that I found on another scrapbooker's blog.
I only have about 12 cards collected, but loved the "messiness" that the
collage program created. I also wanted to use up some of my old chip
letters and combined the sizes and different shapes to create interest.
I inked and then distressed the shapes to make the letters fit in with
the distressed appearance of the patterned paper.
