Oh how welcome is the sun where I am!
Everything is brighter and cleaner somehow
(apart from my house and the dust that
sparkles!) Still, it makes my thoughts
turn to summer days, fun, excitement and
vacations. To help those thoughts along, our
free kit this month is Life’s Journey by
Swissaroo. This team of designers comes from
Switzerland and Australia, so the name is a fun
spin on where they live!
Before we see what our creative artist team came
up with, I just want to mention that we are
featuring a guest artist each month. I hope you
enjoy the talents of Patti Senter, our first
guest artist. Patti does beautiful
layouts, telling fascinating tales and memories
with her journaling.

for the pictures of my family.

Journaling:
My roots come from Europe, my Great Grandparents
were from England and Germany, my dream
would be to visit where my heritage began,
to walk the land, smell the flowers and get
a feel for them. If it had not been for an
adventurous young man in his early teens
that set off on a Merchant ship from England
to Canada in the early 1900's to join his
brothers, I may never have been. That was
my Grandfather Fred, sailing from England to
St Josephs Island, Canada. Later he would
meet my Grandmother Clara and together they
would begin a family in the Eastern part of
Washington and Oregon. Eventually my family
ended up in SW Washington a far distance
from the lands in which my blood began. I
look at me today and wonder if I would have
had the nerve to leave my family behind,
knowing in my heart of hearts I would
never see them again for lands so far away.
It was lives full of long days and hard work
to carve out homes for themselves. I wish
I had known my Grandfather, to be able to
hear his stories of home and family, to get
a sense of me.
My Grandmother Clara (Kiehl) came from Kiel
Germany. I do not know as much about them,
but when Amber was in High School she had
the opportunity to stay with a German family
and they in turn took her to visit her
Ancestors area. I have seen pictures of the
beauty here, much like my Pacific Northwest
and I hope that perhaps someday I will be
able to see it firsthand as well.

notes:
Just a few days ago we came back from our lovely
vacation in Germany where we visited many
beautiful places. That's why scrapping with
this month's travel theme, came just at the
right time! This layout is about our visit
to the beautiful city of Würzburg.

Design
notes:
I
wanted to convey the feeling that I get when
I think of Ireland, the green landscape and
castles that I look forward to seeing one
day, so I used as plenty of green, without
overwhelming the layout. The font color
changed to white was easier to read against
the dark background.

Journaling: I want very much to go
to Ireland. It has been a dream of mine for
a long time now. Rick, having been to many
places overseas always asked where it is
Iwould like to visit and I can't think of a
more interesting place than Ireland. I have
always been fascinated by it. All the lush,
green farm land, castles and rocky
coastland. I have a great-great grandfather on my dad's side who sailed from
Ireland to the states in 1902 and I think I
still have some distant relatives who live
over there. I would also love to go for the
photographic opportunities that the
wonderful countryside would provide. I just
know it would be a once in a lifetime
opportunity that I would treasure for the
rest of my days!
