Digital Discovery

Lindsey Krauss

Welcome to May, and welcome to another fun digital discovery! I can’t say that I discovered Jane Smith this time; it seems that ScrapStreet herself did! We recently welcomed Jane onto ScrapStreet’s creative team and her work immediately caught the eye of many of our designers and members.

Jane has this lovely, soft style that is reminiscent of old, heritage photos. Every page she designs has softness to it, even when it’s a slightly young masculine theme. (Take a look at “Yes!” down below. How she manages to mix softness and masculinity it beyond me!)

At the same time, however, her heritage-like style is also quite modern. The elements she chooses, their placement and color palates seem to run right out of the current-day photographs even when the pictures are colorless!

We are so proud to say we know Jane Smith – proud that she’s a part of our team and community, now. She brings such life through her page designs. Look for more of her work with ScrapStreet digital designers’ work.

Congratulations, Jane, on all your successes! We’re happy that we’ll now get to drive right next to you on your road to more success!

Design notes: I enlarged the word "LOVE" to use as an element instead of wording and put the heart shaped wording inside the "O". This is an older photo of my oldest son and me.

You've Stolen My Heart by Jane Smith. Digital supplies: All elements are by Kami Kreations.

Journaling: inside the heart reads " my love" repeatedly

YES! by Jane Smith. Digital supplies: "My Guy" by Stacey's Scraps (Scrap That Idea), Font: Bazooka.

Editor’s Note: Simply stated – sometimes that is the way to go. Using minimal words and journaling can bring certain photographs to life just as journaling can bring a story to life.

Design notes: This is a photo of my grandson at Lake Michigan. I just loved that I got him in his "yes" stance! Thought the kit was perfect for it and I changed the photo to black and white to make the color in the kit and the photo stand out more.

Jason and Ryan by Jane Smith. Digital supplies: All elements from TaylorMade designs, Font: Teletype.

Journaling: This family moment brought to you by Jason and Ryan. The other wording was included in the kit.

Design notes: This was an old photo of my sons when they were small and it wasn't in very good shape. However, I took a digital photo of it and touched it up in my Microsoft Digital Image Suite program and now I have a new photo!

Design notes: I loved the soft tones in the kit so I changed the colored photo of my grandson to sepia to blend with it.

You Touch My World With Love by Jane Smith. Digital supplies: All elements: “You Touch My World" by Jopke.

Editor’s Note: A fancy frame and a few layered elements is always a quick-guide to enhance a good photo. How much work you put in after that is up to you!

I have been married for a long time to my high school sweetheart. We have three grown children and one marvelous four-year-old grandson! I have been scrapping for around 6 years, however, I got started on digi scrapping in the last year and a half and it is such an easy way for me to get caught up on some older photos of my grown children, and is less of a mess too! I am on design teams at BWScrapbooking.com, Stacey's Scraps at Scrap That Idea.com, and most recently here at ScrapStreet. I love designing pages and updating my blog. What a wonderful hobby! I just wish I had more time.
