Discovery Drive

Lindsey Krauss

Hey Scrappers and Discoverers! Come on in, grab a cuppa, and meet our newest find, Tina Halsey!   Tina just seems like one of those sweet, funny, outgoing girls-next-door. What a pleasure it was to get to know her and work with her this month! Her page, “Sweet”, is one of the very reasons Tina was invited to be our Discovery this month. It’s just such a, well, pretty page! So well put together, so colorful, so lovely, and I love how Tina rocks what she calls simple!

Tina seems to be able to scrap anything; it's not that there is a lack of style (or that she doesn’t know her style), but she encompasses so many styles. She can journal, or not. She can layer, or not. She’s not afraid of color, but she can turn on the subtle hue flair. And, wow, aren’t mother and daughter just beautiful themselves?! Congratulations, Tina, once again, on being “discovered” with us this month. We wish you much more success and talents surprised with future discovery!

Design note: It's ok to keep it simple. Just get it done!

Happiness Us by Tina Halsey. Supplies: Paper: Creative Imaginations, Cardstock: Die Cuts With A View, Cardstock stickers: Creative Imaginations, Overlay: Hambly, Title: Heidi Swapp.

Journaling: Love spending time together just me and you. Us in Kansas City for Doug and Emily's wedding. What a fun night.

Fun 4 You by: Tina Halsey. Supplies: Paper: Heidi Swapp, Cardstock: Die Cuts With A View, Tape, Flower: Heidi Swapp, Transparent tape: Prima, Stickers: American Crafts, Ink: Ranger.

Journaling: A hot afternoon spent at Vandaveer Park. We had a picnic, played at the playground, looked thru the rose garden, took a walk. I believe your favorite was when we hung out by the fountain. I let you get in to cool off, lets just say you didn't want to get out. You thought it was great and before I knew it you were soaked. That's ok –that’s what being a kid’s all about.

Design notes:  A Toys R Us ad inspired this layout. I'll take inspiration where ever I can get it. The journal block is from patterned paper, dressed it with pen and scissors. I cut scallops and drew borders on and around the paper to help it stand out a bit more.

You by Tina Halsey. Supplies: Paper: KI Lace, My Mind’s Eye laundery line, Cardstock: DieCuts With A View, Journal tag, ribbon, butterfly: My Minds Eye, Glitter: Glimmer Mist, Flowers and bling: Prima, Buttons: foof-a-la, Title: Making Memories.

Journaling: Random Thoughts:  4yrs old; weighs 35 pounds; 3 1/2 ft tall; can ride bike; knows ABCs; count 1-14; talks all the time; loves to go to preschool; wants to play all day; loves to play w/ kids; jokes, funny sense of humor

Design notes: If you do not have the right color of something, alter it!  I sprayed the white scalloped paper with Glimmer Mist to give it a much softer look, as well as punching holes and weaving ribbon through the holes to give it a new look. I also used pink Distress ink on the white KI lace die cut paper so that it would tie in with the rest of the layout.

Design note: It's ok to just have the picture say it all sometimes. I do this a lot with portrait pics, sometimes I just want to have fun with the art part and not worry about journaling on every single layout.

Sweet by Tina Halsey. Supplies: Paper: Making Memories, Cardstock: Die Cuts With A View, Flowers, Stickers: Making Memories, Letters: American Crafts.

Hey my name is Tina Halsey, I just turned 26. I'm a Wife, Mother, Nurse, and one avid scrapbooker. I also work at my LSS. My life is very busy but very blessed. I stumbled upon the world of scrapbooking about 4 years ago, and I’ve been obsessed with it every since. My number one subject to scrap is my daughter, Summer. I really don't know my style. It usually depends on my mood. I like to layer things, I love scallop anything and flowers are also always used on my pages. I will be published for the first time in Memory Makers this July, so I'm really excited about that. Other than scrapbooking I enjoy doing anything outdoors, camping, boating, walks, hiking, swimming, (you get the idea), as well as photography, traveling, shopping (Hello, what girl doesn't like to shop?!) and going out dancing and hangin’ with friends and family. Check out my blog! Thanks for looking. Thank you to ScrapStreet Magazine for this opportunity!
