Scrapping the Music
One of the other features of the blog that I
love involves the people behind it. The music
alone is enough to motivate me to scrap, but the
icing on the cake is the amazing creations from
the design team. I so enjoy checking out
everyone’s interpretations of the song. Some
attach humor, others complete “All About Me”
layouts, some keep the tone serious. Every
layout is different and gorgeous! You can learn
more about each design team member or view a
portfolio of her work by clicking on the
person’s name. After spending only a few
minutes there, you understand that music means
something to these designers. They are truly
affected by the songs and put great thought into
their projects.
In an effort to learn more about the blog, I
asked the founder, Mary, to answer some
questions. Here is what Mary had to say!
What is the
overall goal/purpose of this challenge blog?
In one word, inspiration! Do you ever listen
to a song and get caught up in the words,
lost in your thoughts and emotions? Music
can inspire and release creativity in all of
us. Therefore, I have created this site as a
pure means of inspiration for creating
scrapbook pages from the heart. Each week a
new song is chosen for inspiration. It is
the participant's challenge to use this song
to create a layout full of passion, emotion,
or just pure fun.
How did
you come up with the initial concept for the
blog?
When my daughter was born, she was life-flighted
to a different hospital three hours away. On
my way to see her for the first time, I
heard the song Always Forever by
Donna Lewis. 10 years later, I sat down to
scrap one of her baby pictures and this song
popped into my head. I got to thinking and I
realized that there are tons of songs that
can be easily turned into scrapbook pages.
One thing led to another and before I knew
it, Scrapping the Music was born.
How do
you determine your challenges?
There are so many GREAT songs and no one
person knows all of them, so we get lots of
recommendations from participants and the
design team is a great at coming up with
challenges. February's challenges were all
chosen by the design team members and
sometimes, I choose the songs. I guess it
just all depends. This may sound a little
corny, but there are times when I hear a
song I just know it will be a great
challenge. I can't listen to the radio
without thinking hummm... "Would that be a
good song to use?"

What being a part of this team means to you:
Being a part of the Scrapping the Music
Design Team has been a role I LOVE! I've
always been inspired by music in my
scrapbooking, but I love the variety of
music that we have in the challenges at this
site. There are a few songs that I had never
heard of that we've used, so I love that
being here has broadened my musical
horizons!

What being a part of this team means to you:
Being on the Scrapping the Music Design Team
is such an honor. I first have to say, that
Aleida Franklin was the one who I was in
contact with when I first started out with
the team. I just can't say enough about
Aleida, she was an amazing woman and I miss
her tremendously! Secondly, Mary and the
design team are absolutely amazing to work
with!!! The talent at Scrapping the Music
is phenomenal!! I still can't believe I am a
part of the team!! Last but not least,
music itself is a very important part of who
I am and the challenges at STM cause me to
pour my heart and soul into my layouts.
Every layout I have created for STM means a
great deal to me.
I just love being a part of this team!!

What being a part of this team means to you:
Being a part of Scrapping the Music is a
DREAM come true! Music has always been a
part of my life, from listening to my folks
old LP's, the Mama's & the Papa's, The
Fifth Dimension, Peter, Paul & Mary to
the music of my "age" to the music that they
are playing today. I love all styles, all
KINDS of music. Country, Pop, Classic, R&B,
it doesn't matter, music is just a part of
me. I had been participating in Scrapping
the Music's challenges for almost a year,
when I was asked to join their team.
Seriously, I was floored!! I was shocked and
amazed! I was HONORED! These women that work
for Scrapping the Music are beyond talented,
and I am blessed to be working next to them
inspiring others to scrap music as much as I
am inspired to scrap that music!
