The GreenHouse

Jackie Gallagher

Recycling is a big one in my household. We try to save or recycle everything possible. Not only is it great for the earth, but think of all the amazing things you can create! So, let’s talk about boxes! They are everywhere! They come in the mail, they are hiding in our houses, and they are even in our cupboards! Instead of throwing them out, try looking at them differently. Can you see it? That amazing creation that is ready to be born?

Cardboard is so much fun to play with! You can tear it, paint it, emboss it, sew on it, ink it…the possibilities are endless! It makes a perfect addition to your layouts! Take a look at these amazing layouts and see how the designers really brought focus to these recycled boxes!

Design notes:  I used a portion of die cut paper and black acrylic paint to mask the area by the photo.

Try To Smile by Lucy Edson.  Supplies:  Paper: Fancy Pants, Bo Bunny, Pink Paislee, Doodlebug Design, KI Memories, Rub-ons, Ribbon: Fancy Pants, Transparency: Prima Marketing, Dimensional Glaze: Ranger, Other: paint, cardboard.

Journaling:  I'm not quite sure when this started, your not quite smile, more of a grimace. I will say, just try to smile. You try, sweetie, such a cute smile.

Design notes:  I stripped some of the paper from a 12x12 piece of corrugated cardboard, applied Mod Podge and poured on the glitter. Where it stuck ... it stuck!

Her Spot by Tara Van Moorsel.  Supplies:  Paper, Die-cut: My Mind’s Eye, Flowers: My Mind’s Eye, Prima Marketing, Heidi Swapp, Brad: Anna Griffin, Tim Holtz, Spinner: Tim Holtz, Inks: Tim Holtz, Specialty Inks: Tattered Angels, Trim: Stampin’ Up!, Other: button, vintage wood veneer, packaging, cardboard, glaze.

Journaling:  Some people see things the way they are and ask “Why”? I dream things what never were and ask “Why not”?

 –George Bernard Shaw
