Creative Therapy
It was over a year ago when I started my very own scrapbooking blog. I was all giddy to link up my favorite online places. At the top of my list was a new site that was generating some serious buzz. From the first post, the blog and all it represents was a huge hit. But having a stellar team and a meaningful purpose will cause that to happen. The place known as Creative Therapy would soon become one of my regular stops. I truly feel as though it is one of the greatest sources of scrapbooking inspiration anywhere.
Having always believed that this thing called scrapbooking is so much more than just a hobby, the philosophy behind Creative Therapy instantly spoke to me. Each week a different catalyst is provided. According to Dictionary.com, the term catalyst is “often used to refer to the prime agent of any change.” When explaining the goal of the site, blog founder, Karen Grunberg writes “the goal is for the work to be the catalyst for our life and a catalyst for you to feel inspired to create your own piece of creative therapy.”
The catalysts are meant to ignite a spark, hit a nerve, make you reflect and ponder. They are meant to make you feel and, in turn, create with all of your heart and soul. Personal change is sure to occur then. Recent catalysts include the prompts, “Tell one thing you would change about yourself.” or “What makes you laugh?”. The current catalyst requires you to determine if your life turned out how you imagined. The variety and talent of the design team is obvious when viewing their beautiful interpretations of this prompt.

What being a part of this team means to you: I love the catalysts Karen comes up with - how they nudge me towards becoming more self-aware, of acknowledging what makes me, ME. Accepting the past, living in the present and hoping for the future ... these are what the Catalysts have helped me to be more open about. The ladies on this team are again so generous with their life stories. You would always find one that you can connect with. And their CREATIVITY! They bowl me over and inspire me each week; they are truly gems.

Album by Lia Abdullah. Supplies: Album: Maya Road, Paper: Making Memories, Alphabet: American Crafts, Making Memories, Pink Paislee, Flowers: Making Memories, Maya Road, Pins: Maya Road, Tulle: Bazzill Basics Paper, Butterfly: KI Memories, Journaling Card: 7Gypsies, Clock: Maya Road, Chipboard: Maya Road, Stickers: Making Memories, Bling: Heidi Swapp, Border Punch: Martha Stewart, Stamp: October Afternoon.
Journaling: Is my life right now how I imagined it to be 10 years ago? Of course not! I had the best of dreams and hopes for my future back then, from the simplest dream of being a world traveller to a hope that I would find the love of my life. Through the years, many dreams were lost, hopes dashed and compromises made. But there were many dreams (both mine and those my loved ones had for me) were fulfilled – most significant ones were my late mom's last wish to have me graduate from University, and yes, me finding the love of my life. There were even some surprises in my life, from working in Finance in a Shipping company and opportunities to share my love of creative handiwork with the scrapbooking community. So would I trade my life right now for the one I imagined 10 years ago? Well we are all allowed to dream, but I so love my life right now. And that is good for me.

What being a part of the team means to you: Being a part of Creative Therapy gives me reason to express my thoughts and put it all out on paper. The prompts are a good start to get ideas rolling on topics to scrap, things I otherwise might not have. I like the challenge of having to push myself to really put it all out there and to be able to inspire others along the way.

Journaling: Even in my wildest dreams and biggest hopes, I could never have predicted such an amazing life. Such incredible children. Such a loving husband. So much success. So much luck. I am so, so, so thankful and so blessed.

So Much Better by Karen Grunberg. Supplies: Papers: Creative Imaginations, Sassafrass Lass, Chipboard: Fancy Pants, Alphabet: Pink Paislee, Carolees Creations, Punch: Martha Stewart, Ink: Clearsnap, Other: bling.
What being a part of this team means to you: I started creative therapy because of a life changing experience creating brought to me and this place has become my favorite safe haven. The art I do for the site might or might not be amazing but it's always therapeutic and it always leaves me feeling a bit better by the end. How much more can I ask for? Add to that, the amazing, stunning works of art by the rest of the team and how much they inspire me each week. I am truly thankful for this little corner of the web.
