Past Issues | | | Every Day Containers Terry McAuliffe | | They are not always what you think they are or could be. We all have them. We all toss them. Some of us horde them just in case. Those cute, little, empty packages that you just “know” could be used for something else. It’s amazing to me the creativity some people have and the ideas they come up with to reinvent the every day containers and packaging that some of us love to horde. Take Meghan’s adorable little party favor, created from an empty embellishments container. Or, Cindy’s ribbon jar. And, get a load of the cute little mini containers that were once make-up jars that Cecelia came up with. How inspiring and functional they all are. | | | Design notes: This project could be used for party favors, kids valentines, or even place cards for a dinner party (you get a place card and a favor all in one). | Scrapbook Elements Container Turned Party Favor by: Meghan Epperly. Supplies: Paper: Die Cuts With a View, Other: stickers, ribbon. Instructions: 1. Take out the insert from the button packaging to use as a template to cut two pieces of scrap scrapbook paper - 1 for the front and 1 for the back. 2. Attach these to each other with scrapbook adhesive and set it aside. 3. Cut a small square of matching scrapbook paper to sit behind the opening where the candy would go. Measure the opening, cut the paper, and then use the template to round the corners. Attach this to the new insert from the previous step. 4. Add matching ribbon to the “hanging hole” with a stapler and use letter stickers to add a name. 5. Place the candy in the packaging and close it. A Ghiradelli chocolate square fits perfectly in the opening. | Editor's notes: Cindy took an ordinary jar and created an awesome way to store and utilize her ribbons. What a fun, colorful addition to any scrap area. You might also note that by printing a paper from a digital kit, Cindy also branded this jar a HYBRID project! Way to go, Cindy! | | Cracker Jar Turned Ribbon Jar by Cindy Gilchrist. Digital Supplies: Fun For Me by Zoe Pern (Sweet Shoppe Designs). Supplies: Ribbons: Offray, Flower: Prima Marketing, Stickers: American Crafts, Other: ribbons, button. | Design notes: The materials are Bare Minerals empty makeup containers. They come clean with a baby wipe and the sticker on the bottom of the container pulls off easily. I put little 1"x1" acrylic stamps in these and the container can be used as the block for the 1”x1” stamp. Also they can be used as craft jars to hold brads, eyelets and other small goodies. They can also be used to hold tiny toy accessories that come with kids’ toys, like Barbie shoes. | Bare Minerals Make-up Containers by Cecila Marsh.
