Those
people who participate in April Fools’ Day
realize the funny side of playing a joke on
others! Often times the intent is to trick the
person into believing something, only to have
them discover it was a joke. Does your family
or group of friends have a running joke that has
lasted over time? Is there a silly saying or
phrase that has stuck and is repeated? Have you
ever been dared to do something that resulted in
a funny story? Are you the person who keeps it
light, using humor to deal with all sorts of
life’s little challenges? These are all
interesting topics that could end up on your
next page! Looking for other ways to
incorporate humor? You can consider including
the punch line of a favorite joke or even using
a “knock, knock” joke that fits the given
theme.
The layouts
below illustrate the power of joking around.
Jill’s page documents a prank that her daughter
played on her. She even photographed the exact
prop that her daughter uses. Nicole documented
a story about two friends being jokesters on
what seemed to be a great night out! Cheryl’s
playful layout conveys how she relies on her
sense of humor, even while in the midst of a
frustrating day. Humor and wit are used quite
effectively by each of these ladies!

Design
notes:
My daughter and husband decided to pull a
practical joke on me. I still can't believe
how wide my eyes became when I saw my
daughter's "wound." I decided to continue
the "joke" on this layout, using letters
that reminded me of gauze and a stick pink
to push the point (pardon the pun). I
decided to journal in the third person to
reinforce the way that the scene played out,
according to plan.

Poser by Jill Sprott. Supplies: Paper: BasicGrey, Jenni Bowlin Studio, American
Crafts, Lace Cardstock: KI Memories, Stamp:
Fontwerks, Journaling card: Jenni Bowlin,
Stick pin: Heidi Grace, Letters: American
Crafts.
Journaling:
"'MOM! MOMMY! MY FINGER!" Mom turns to see
a gruesome sight and gasps -- shocked -- and
then she realizes the prank. Daughter cracks
up laughing, as Father looks on approvingly.
It's so fun to mess with Mom.

Editor’s Notes:
We have all had those nights where we
just lived it up and had an absolute blast!
Reading this reminds me of those times.
Nicole uses storytelling skills nicely on
this layout, writing as if she were
explaining this evening to all of her
friends in person. I can just imagine how
they laughed and continue to do so as they
tell the story again and again.

What I do For You by Nicole Martel.

Paper, Alphabet: American Crafts, Punches:
EK Success.
Journaling:
Last night, Pete and I went to watch the
band. We totally surprised everyone because
we didn't say that we were going. It all
depended on whether I got my paper done,
which I did Saturday morning. We walk into
the bar, and Randy's wearing his skirt, I
mean kilt... He gets angry when you call it
a skirt. So Renee and I are scary
together... we actually think the same
thoughts... were sitting there drinking our
Orange crush staring at all of Randy's beads
around his neck and I immediately think,
gotta have the red ones... Renee would like
them...and at that second, she says it! I
yell for her to get out of my head, giggles.
And the best thing about the beads? They
actually came from New Orleans. Randy just
got back from Mardi Grass. So, I reach over
to Randy and grip the red beads, and ask
Randy if I could have it... He says no it's
my favorite one. Damn. But he says that
he'll give me any other one if I showed my
tits. I say, I want the red ones and I'll
kiss you for it instead... I don't flash my
tits for anyone... He settles for a kiss but
I still can't have the red one... I say no
deal, grab my cigs and walked out for a
smoke. So all night, he kept glancing at
Renee and I rubbing the beads making us
pissed off. Renee said she wanted the beads
but wouldn't flash for them. So Randy comes
at me again rubbing those damn beads. I
looked at him and said, let's go right now.
He says where? I say the men's bathroom. I'm
not flashing the entire bar, you nuts? So we
go to the beds bathroom. Randy's Gay... and
was a perfect gentleman. He stood on the
opposite side of the bathroom which was
small. I stood against the stall and pulled
down my shirt. He said lift it up, I
refused... too personal... and he settles.
He didn't try grabbing or anything. He
handed me the beads and we walked out. So
i'm walking out of the men's room and of
course the guys playing pool yelled for
me... asking what did I do? I ignored them
and pushed through the crowd with a silly
grin on my face. I got the damn red beads
for Renee! She doesn't know it. I get to the
table, Randy's there with Renee and Renee is
yelling for the beads. Where are they? Randy
says they were taken... Renee, what do you
mean they are taken? By Who? Randy replies,
your girl. And right then, I slammed the
beads on the table and she knows me... I
don't do that kind of stuff. I'm crazy and
wild but not like that... And you should
have seen her face light up like a Christmas
tree. She grabbed me and was kissing me
saying, yea, this is how you f**king roll! I
said you better enjoy them! So I defeated
Randy and got the red beads...

Design
notes:
I
created this layout when I was going through
the “mom crazies.” I was ready to pull my
hair out (as evidenced in the photo) and I
knew that I needed something for my sanity
and for my children’s well-being. Scrapping
has often worked for me as a form of therapy
along with a little humor. So I decided to
try to scrap out of my mood. It worked like
a charm. No more “mom crazies.”

How to Survive the Mom Crazies by Cheryl
Nelson. Supplies:
Paper: American Crafts, Cardstock: American Crafts,
Bazzill Basics Paper, Stickers: American
Crafts, Doodlebug Designs, Scenic Route.
Journaling: Some words of advice for
my children. 1. Do bring me chocolate,
lots of chocolate. 2. Do think of all the
kind words you know and say them. 3. Don’t
lock me in the garage. 4. Don’t ask me for
favors. 5. Do stay away… far away. 6.
Don’t bring your friends over.
