Chic Street

Michelle Boeckermann

What is new and hot on the market you say? Well, I have to admit (as I hang my head in shame) I am not one to ask.  I love it all, new and old, and finding that spark to make something totally unique. But isn't that the true bones of scrapbooking as a hobby ? Well, maybe not, it's debatable. Most would say it's preserving a memory. I say, I have preserved lots of memories over the years of scrapbooking and now I am totally in love with making unique gifts for others. Finding joy in taking what I have learned through the years and applying it toward something that will brighten up another's life.

What did I do this month that has me so excited to show you? Well, it just so happens that at ScrapStreet we have a secret club of ladies that have over 1000 posts and have been on the board long enough and contributed long enough to play "Secret Sister" every month. But I outed myself the first couple of days as the "NOT so Secret Sister". I did this because I was doled out the head honcho herself, Dora. Now Dora and I are pretty darn close, and comment often at how our lives have changed and grown with each other over the last 4 years. She knows me inside and out, as I do her. We are there for each other in all facets of life. Which brings me to this month's Chic Street centerpiece.

Dora had to have surgery this month. When you finally decide enough is enough, what does a strong, independent woman choose to do? Have a tubal of course!  I see you all sitting there snickering at the answer! But If you're one of the few that say to yourself  "self... I don't want anymore children, two is enough for me, and I am going to take it upon myself to make sure I don't have more," then a tubal it is! And what better thing for a not-so-secret sister, and friend, to celebrate this with you!

Every lady having a tubal should have one of these! It's a tubal surgery survival kit. For the ladies that need to relax, enjoy, endure (sometimes) the kids and husband while recuperating.

What did this kit include? Take a look, in true Scrap Sister fashion we have:

Lemon chocolates- because your not getting a lemondrop anytime soon and need that poor substitute. (For all the non-ScrapStreet Life Lane regulars, "lemondrop" is code for intimate relationships with your spouse or significant other.)

A Can Condom- because you really don't need the others anymore! And size does matter!

Street sister medicine- You got it! fruity mini shots of alcohol! Gal can't recoup fast enough without them!

A shot glass with a whistle (0r, as I called it, the MAN caller (giggle).

Various other little things like a drink stirrer, a pretty silver bookmark, some specialty salts for drinks, some chai tea, candles and such to fill up the specialty tin.

But the best and what brought the most giggles around our Streets was the pregnancy test that came included with a tag stating "Just in case!"

Using scrapping tools on a dollar store tin, a great line of papers, a few ribbons and chipboard and you have a great kit to send. What will this inspire you to celebrate? Maybe your friend is getting a new job? or maybe they just lost a job? In the state of economy I am saying the latter would be most prevalent? What every you decide to do, be creative, grab your scrappy talents some great papers and go searching for some fun gift ideas!
