Farmer Pooh here, taking a little break from vegetable gardening to talk about the power of flowers.
Flowers are such an amazing thing. Just catching a glimpse of a green stem pushing through the dirt in early spring is enough to put a smile on Pooh’s face. And seeing that first bloom is powerful enough to make me want to get up from my computer chair and head outside to do yard work. And believe me, my friends, getting me away from my computer chair is NOT an easy thing to do. But I can’t help it. I feel like I need to make the rest of the yard pretty too, to help showcase those pretty spring flowers. Luckily, this force tends to weaken as the temperature rises. By the time Alabama summer hits in full force, Pooh is ready for things to freeze and die again... heehee.
Of course, before I reach for the garden gloves and rake, I tend to reach first for my camera. And I’m not the only one who can’t resist a pretty flower. Take a look at the photos of the real flowers in these layouts. Gorgeous, aren’t they? *Waits to see if the northern gals jump up to head outside to work.* Hmmm... nothing? Well, I guess it’s just not the same when you’re reaching for mittens and show shovels, huh?

Design
notes:
To put my pictures in the word ‘flower’, I chose a font that had a lot of wide space on the letters (Impact Font). To make them even more ‘chunky’, I ctrl-clicked on the thumbnail (which selects the text/puts marching ants around it) and used Select>Modify>expand to increase the selection a bit. I then created a new layer and pressed Ctrl-Backspace to fill it with color. This new
layer was then used to ‘clip’ the photos to.
