Jewelry in January
This month
I took a few wonderful antiques off the shelves
of the Boutique and even highlighted a few of my
favorite pieces.

I adore
the antique finishes, the warm richness of the
textures, and, of course, the bling. I have
several different takes on this piece this
month. The things I have to share this month
range from layouts to altered items; from very
classic to very trendy. I’m thrilled to share
some of the great things the girls submitted
this month.
What inspires you?

Design note: When
I looked at the inspiration piece, what
jumped out at me was the word "classic" so I
started my page with a black and white
portrait of my daughter. Next, I took a
classic block layout style and mixed in some
very traditional patterned papers. To mix in
a touch of shine, I used clear elements with
paint and a few gems.

Joy by Dora Phillips. Supplies:
Paper: BasicGrey, Clear Elements, Bling:
Heidi Swapp, Paint: Plaid.

Design note:
I immediately thought of treasure when I saw
the inspiration photos. That got turned into
the saying "what a treasure" or "what a
little gem"! I decided to do a digital card
that could be printed out for a friend's
birthday. The rich colors of the papers
fulfilled the treasure and the bling helps
convey the sentiments! |

Gem of a Card By Katey Green. Digital

Gemstones from Betsy Tuma Blingy Things,
Fonts: Gastada, Vespasian.

Design note:
When I saw all the bling I knew I had to use
a photo of my daughter, but I wanted
something a little different. After making a
mini for my secret Santa I had an idea: use
a piece of the acrylic album for the
background to a mini layout. I chose the
papers to coordinate with her outfit, as it
was her half birthday (6mos) and added the
bling to the scallops. At this point it can
hang since I've added the ribbon but I can
always add it back into the album - if I
ever get it started.
