White Space

  Christa Parker

Webster dictionary says white space is the area of a page without print or pictures. Have you ever asked yourself how much is too much? Do you feel that you have to add all the latest embellishments to every page? Many of us sometimes forget that our pictures and journaling are the main focus of our layouts as we get caught up in the design of our pages. I’m guilty on that with many of my layouts. I get so excited about how my page turns out that I don’t focus on the pictures, just the background that I created. Remember that K.I.S.S technique? Keep it simply simple. A clean and fresh layout is easy on the eyes and lets you see the focal point(s) of your pages. White space is now popular.  The next time you sit and scrap, and leave some white space. I’m sure you will like the end results.

Design notes: I used a Wacom tablet to extract my grandson from a photo of him standing on a swing.

“C” is for Chris by Reba McNew. Digital Supplies: Kit: Just Plain White Page by Suzanne Walker, Alphabet: Swirlchip by Lauren Bavin.

Journaling: Curious, Cute, and Cuddly.

Design Note: Using a 2-inch punch, cut one of the starburst shapes out of the KI Sheer Delights paper. Transfer one of the little heart-shaped rub-ons from Imaginicse on to the circle, then attach the piece to the bottom right corner of the layout using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots.

Sweet by Marci Knecht. Supplies: Paper: Sassafrass Lass, Dream Street, Cardstock: Bazzill Basic Papers, Stickers: Sassafrass Lass, Rub ons: Imaginicse, Piggy Tales, Flowers: Bazzill Basic Papers.

Journaling: You have such innocence in your smile, such sweetness. Sometimes my heart aches with how much love I have for you. You'll always be my sweet little Annie.

Design Note: I chalked the chipboard letters and little tag with baby blue footprints to connect to the heart.

Look Who’s Walking by Jackie Mitchell. Supplies: Paper: Sassafrass Lass, Cardstock: Bazzill, Other: Chipboard.
