Baby It’s Cold Outside!

  Michelle McClung

Some adults do enjoy playing in the snow, usually with skis or a snowboard attached to their feet. Not for the faint at heart, but it can be fun and great exercise. Photos of these activities can make wonderful, multiple-photo layouts while giving you a chance to show off your talent.

I personally enjoy the sights of winter especially after freshly fallen snow. Everything is so white and clean (for a while), the trees look beautiful with snow or icicles on them, and to me, this is the epitome of what winter is.

I have to end this cold, winter scrapping tutorial with the perfect finish - hot chocolate! Some may prefer soup or even a brandy to warm them up, but they all make a great ending to a cold day, and a good topic to scrap!

Journaling: You waited patiently the whole time we were in Canada for this day to arrive....& when it did your excitement was completely evident. You hit the training slopes & took to it like a natural. ... like you practiced everyday. No-one would have guessed it was your very first time SNOWBOARDING!

Snowboading by Kim Watson. Supplies: Paper: BasicGrey, Making Memories, Bazzill Basic Papers, Alphas: Doodlebug, American Crafts, Stickers: KI Memories, Pens: Signo Uni-Ball, Zig photo, Steadler, Other: embroidery thread, needle.

Design notes: Layouts for the guys are always so tricky.  I hate the usual blue & brown vibe & didn't want to go the snowflake route, so tried something bright & funky! My DH is a salty old surfer, so after landing on Canadian soil, the first thing he said was, "where's the snowboarding". In borrowed gear, he hit the slopes & fell in love; he was a complete natural. I printed the photos to work in a series across the page then cut up the patterned paper, allowing me to position the dots where ever I wanted. I made the journal blocks from MM paper & cardstock, stitching around the edges for interest. Lastly I used my white paint pen to add the doodle dots to funk it up a bit.

Design notes: I tried to layer on both back and front of acrylic for a more detailed look. Also I covered the snowflake with glue, then paper, then Stickles for a shimmery effect.

If Only In My Dreams by Pinky/Cristal Hobbs. Supplies: Papers: Pink Paislee, Acrylic Page: Clear Scraps, Press-Ons: Pink Paislee, Stickers: Pink Paislee, Ribbons: Prima, Bazzill Basic Papers, Snowflake: Maya Road, Bling: Prima, Glitter: Ranger, Pearls: Kaiser Craft.

Design notes: When winter is on its way I like the smell of hot chocolate. So delicious when it's homemade with fresh cream on top. The recipe is just a nice detail. The papers, patterns, and embellishments lend to that nostalgic feel.

Time for... by Mariska Hofmann: Supplies: Paper: Rusty Pickle, Chipboard: K & Company, Maya Road, Clips: Rob & Bob, Embossed Metal Border: More Than Memories, Ink: Ranger, Other: fine liner, letter stickers, buttons.

Journaling: When the days are getting shorter and it's cold outside then it is time for hot chocolate with cream made by grandma's recipe.
