Good Ole Crocheting!
How about crocheted doileys? I came across two pages that use them, but with different results. Ruth's, "You Wish", is vintage-themed layout. The inclusion of the crochet doiley and broken jewelries contributed to that dreamy elegant classic feel. Bonnie's gray doiley along with her hand crocheted ric rac, flower and butterfly add interesting texture to her colorful "Daddy's Boy" layout, and the results are really playful!
So how was my first attempt at crocheting after 20 years? I had to laugh, for I definitely need a refresher course. I couldn't get myself to remember the stitches! I know I have to visit those sites which offer crocheting tutorials and re-learn the process, which I have every intention of doing in the future. After all, blessed are those who can combine their hobbies for they have more fun during the creative process.
So this month, I challenge you to grab those yarns and crochet hook and try your hand at good ole crocheting! Have fun!

You Wish by Ruth Philps
Supplies: Papers: Graphic 45, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Ink: Ranger, Bling: Prima Marketing, Other: paper doiley, crochet doiley, broken jewelries.
Design Notes: I titled my layout “You Wish” because my sister Linda wishes she had this car along with a hunky young mechanic to fix it. The photograph was taken at Napier NZ Art Deco Weekend, where my family wore different Art Deco costumes every day. I made the shape myself by creating a template from scrap paper. I shredded the edges with scissors and inked them with distress inks. I painted a paper doiley black added a large crochet doiley and used some broken jewelries for embellishments.

Daddy's Boy by Bonnie Hamel-Steele
Supplies: Papers: Die Cuts with a View, Cardstock: Die Cuts with a View, Top Line Creations, Stickers: Creative Memories, Stamp: Imaginisce, Brads: Making Memories, Paper Frills: Doodlebug Design, Chipboard: Top Line Creations, Gems: Michael's, Other: vintage ric rac, vintage crochet thread, chalk.
Design Notes: I stamped the little birdie on yellow, red, & blue cardstock. I cut out and glued separately the little beak and flower, added a little chalk and a pop dot all to give it a little character. I love to combine my love of thread crochet with my love of scrapbooking so the flower, doiley, butterfly, and ric rac along the bottom are all handmade crochet using vintage tatting thread combined with a DMC metallic floss. I also enjoy using hand sewing, embroidery, and machine sewing to most of my layouts. It's a great way for me to combine hobbies.

Like Mother, Like Daughter by Janis G. Medina-Maghinay
Supplies: Papers: Cosmo Cricket, Chipboard: All About Scrapbooking, A2Z Scraplets, Paper Clip: Simple Joys, Ephemera: 7Gypsies, Paint, Stamp: Making Memories, Other: foam die-cuts, buttons, thread, corrugated board.
Design Notes: This was done for a challenge wherein you should use circles on your layout. I had fun combining both handstitching and crocheting on my page.
