Street Maps

Michelle McClung

Well, I had to ask.  You see, we here at ScrapStreet like to keep things fresh and give you, the readers, the things you want to see in an e-zine.  We like to keep up on latest and hottest trends, introduce some great new products to you, and even change up our fixture articles now and then.  The addition of our new staff writers will also give us fresh voices to this scrappy magazine.

I needed to know what the ScrapStreet readers want to see more of to keep Street Maps new and interesting.  I figured, instead of wondering, I’d just go and ask you!  Here are the results of the poll that was posted on our boards:

  • More 2 page sketches                                                                            24%

  • Street Maps is fine the way it is                                                        24%

  • More card sketches                                                                               20%

  • A Good Mix of two pagers, cards and 0dd-sized sketches    20%

  • Odd-sized sketches                                                                               12%

And I’m really happy to say that no one picked the “I don’t care, don’t like Street Maps” choice!  Thank you!

Design notes: This sketch came so easily to me.  I really like the look of the subject pulled into the middle of the page, but put it all on a diagonal to make it a bit more interesting.  Putting a border around the page just made it seem more finished to me.

Diagonal Sketch by Michelle McClung.  Digital Supplies:  Digital Software: Adobe Photoshop,  Scalloped Border: Coffee Shop Scalloped Border Set (Coffee Tea Photography blogspot),  Font:  Liste Extended.

Design notes: For the background I blended two different papers by using a layer mask and the gradient tool. I stayed very close to this fun sketch and, together with the perfect kit to complement my photos, my page was done in no time!

Bugs by Janneke Smit. Digital Supplies: Ribbons from NSBD MSA Collaborationkit by Chere Kaye (My Scrapbook Art), all other elements from Beep Beep Bugskit by Lorie Davidson (Scrapbook Graphics), Fonts: Jokerman, Baby Boston, Software: Adobe Photoshop CS3.

Journaling: Larissa is completely into Bugs these weeks. Whenever she can she is looking for ladybugs, caterpillars, butterflies, moths, ... all kinds. At first she used a plastic bottle to "catch" bugs. Then Hans gave her a glass jar, which she decorated, and now she uses that as her bug catcher. I bought her a bug vacuum, but she likes her jar better :) - April 2008 -

Design notes: The Thickers were white and I didn't have  any brown letters so I sprayed them with the Maya Road Mist, I love the way they turned out!

Goof Balls by Rachel Hawkins.  Supplies:  Papers: Pink Paislee, Chipboard, Brad: Pink Paislee, Flowers: Prima Marketing, Maya Road, Pen: Zig, Stickers: American Crafts, Specialty Ink: Maya Road Mist, Other: ribbon.

Journaling: After a serious game of mini-golf we took some time to goof off at the 18th hole. Pigeon Forge, TN- mini vacay. April 12th, 2009
