Caardvarks
The overall feel of the blog is warm and
welcoming. You get the sense immediately that
there is an acceptance of all levels of skill
and experience. The focus is placed on
encouraging participants to just enjoy the
craft. I can’t get over all of the techniques
and stamping I have seen on the blog. If you
are anything like me, you have a whole drawer of
stamps just waiting to be used. Well, go visit
the blog and dust them off as you will have a
sudden surge in mojo.
Jennifer Pohl is one of the original co-founders
of the blog and a very talented card-maker. She
is affectionately known as the Card Diva, and
has earned that title based on her skill with
the craft. Jennifer took some time to answer
questions about what makes the blog such a great
success.
What is the overall goal of this challenge blog?
Caardvarks is all about making cards and
having fun doing it. I know many
scrapbookers who have zero confidence in
their card-making skills. Caardvarks is
always there, offering up themes to give
them a starting point.
A few years ago I was a scrapbooker who
couldn’t make a card to save my life.
Challenge blogs were popping up left and
right but they featured mostly layout
challenges. I really wanted to improve my
card making skills…what better way than to
start a blog dedicated to it? So, a friend
and I created the blog and posted the first
challenge.
We host card challenges on the 5th
and 20th of each month. We’ve
been doing it for over two years! If you
keep an eye on the blog, you’ll see that we
occasionally throw in a micro challenge (24
hour down & dirty challenge) as well as
celebrity and reader spotlights. There is
always a prize up for grabs and fun to be
had.
