Just Add Ink

 Jennifer Wuthrich

Today my daughter came home from her gymnastic class covered in stamps. When I asked her why she was covered in stamps she explained to me that when you do a really good job listening or a really great cartwheel you’re rewarded with a stamp. Since she was covered in several stamps, I pressed her and asked well why then do you have multiple stamps? To this she looked up at me like I should know that answer, paused, and in her very grown up 5- year- old voice said “well that’s obvious Mom, I was REALLY good at all of it”. My immediate reaction to her response was uncontrollable laughter, but after calming down, I walked away thinking of all of those stamps that I have in my collection. I have to admit, like her, I too have been rewarded (by myself) with a new stamp or two simply because I was really good.

Now I have to admit it, I have a good growing collection of stamps but when it comes to actually using them it can be rather difficult for me for some reason. Recently while doing some web surfing I found myself on a stamping blog that was talking about just “adding ink” to your stamps and allowing yourself to play. Although this seems like a rather silly concept, as we should never be afraid to just “play” with our supplies, it dawned on me that I really wasn’t just “playing” with my stamps. So this month I have been inspired by these layouts to pull out my stamps add in some ink and sit down and play. I hope that you too will be inspired to join me.
