Lace Cardstock

Lace cardstock is so hot right now!  Available in a variety of materials including cardstock, felt, paper, transparency, glitter, and more, it offers a bunch of fun options for your layouts.  Use it over ordinary cardstock without having to pull out your cutting tools.  Add color or sparkle with ink, glitter, or a bit of paint. No matter what, it will turn out gorgeous.

Take a closer look on how to use the lace as a decorative part of your pages. You can use lace paper to create a soft and sweet feel or a bold and bright one.  Layer it with flowers, brads, buttons, tickets, and tags.  Each designer on this page created an entirely different feeling using the same product.  How fabulous!  Next time you are wandering through your favorite store, grab a sheet of lace cardstock and have some fun.

Design notes: This page is about my daughter’s treasure hunt for seashells when we visited Thailand last year. I used my sewing machine to make a frame on my base and colored my lace cardstock with distress ink and peeled paint.  I mounted the lace as a photo matte behind my photo and then added some flair with chipboard, lace, flowers and glitter stickles.

Skattjakt (Treasure Hunt) by Katarina Damm-Blomberg.  Supplies: Paper:  Deja Views, BasicGrey, My Little Yellow Bicycle, Lace Paper: KI Memories, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Flowers, Crystals: Prima Marketing, Letters:  BasicGrey, Other: lace, ribbons, chipboard, feathers, glitter, book page, floss, seashells.

Editor’s note: Take a closer look at this page and notice that the lace is not completely attached to the page.  This makes the lace feel alive, giving it a dimensional layer to the page that is so gorgeous.

Charmtroll (Charming) by Camilla Ekman.  Supplies: Paper: Webster’s Pages, My Mind’s Eye, Lace Paper: KI Memories, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper,Flowers: Prima Marketing, Journaling Tag: My Mind’s Eye, Charm: Making Memories, Alphabet: Quickutz, Other: ribbon, lace, tag, note paper, pins.

Design notes: I normally have a hard time using both  lace and ribbon, but together they scrapped themselves. The tip is to cut them apart and use bits and pieces. I love the layered look and the small splashes of different colours.
