Ad This

I asked the blog founder, Elisa Kammerdiener to tell us more about her fresh and fun challenge site. Here is what she had to say!

How is your challenge blog unique?

I would have to say out challenge blog is unique in the way that we are using ad's for the base of our challenges. When I started Ad This it was because I love using ad's as a way to get my "mojo" started or when I'm stuck on a project or product. There were not any challenge sites that were using ad's, so I started Ad This.

How have your personal scrapbooking styles or approaches changed since you started the blog?

The team reflected on this question and every member agreed that they are pushed outside of their comfort zone and motivated to try new approaches. Many members now find inspiration in the things around their environment. Mandy, Elisa and Aleta also spoke of how their products are more artsy now after experimenting with different mediums or color schemes.

How do you encourage involvement from the scrapbooking community?

Each week we have a new ad and twist, and at the end of the week we pick someone to join us the following week as our guest designer. We use a link form for users who join us to post their layout links so everyone can see what they did with the ad.

Which challenge has generated the biggest buzz or a surprising response?

Our recycled challenge generated a big response with not only ad's but e-mails saying they really liked the idea of using not only products from green companies but finding things in there home they could recycle and use on there layouts.

What can we expect from your blog in the future?

More creative ad's with some out of the box twists.

Perhaps, I should visit this blog every Monday when a new challenge is posted. I have a feeling that the rigidity would be forced right out of me! Out of the box does sound like a good scrappy time! If you are looking to be inspired in a fresh way, visit Ad This. Just beware, it is highly addictive!

I Love You by Julie Dudley. Supplies: Paper: Webster’s Pages, Sassafras Lass, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Alphabets: American Crafts, Carolee's Creations, Tag: 7Gypsies, Pearls: Kaisercraft, Bling: BasicGrey.

What being a part of this team means to you: I have been a part of the Ad This team for a few months now and enjoy the challenge that comes with scrapping for each ad. Shuffling through my scrappy stash, photos and embellies then having a play with them to create my sample is so much fun. I am glad to be a part of the Ad This team and to be working alongside the talented scrappers.

Journaling:  …to the moon, back and so much more.

Journaling: These are your big sissies. And boy do they love you! They are the ones always in your face and kissing and loving on you!

Smile by Aleta Wills. Supplies: Paper: Stampin Up!, Rub-Ons: Maya Road, American Crafts, Journaling Spot: Elle's Studio, Chipboard Letters: Target, Other: handmade felt flowers.

What being a part of this team means to you: I love the inspiration I get from the ads Elisa picks. They are so fun and funky. I've noticed since I've started the blog that I am venturing into lots of different mediums. I've also really gotten into bright and bold. The ads are so fun and funky that a lot of fun and unique items are ending up on my layouts and I've been hand-making more things for them. I also love being able to get at least one page accomplished a week!

Journaling: Lily is growing so fast. She is taking in her world and expressing herself more and more each day. I love seeing how she shows her thoughts through her facial expressions. I hope Lily is always so open with her feelings. June 2009

Many Looks by Anam Stubbington. Supplies: Paper: My Mind’s Eye, Die-Cuts: My Mind’s Eye, Alphabet: American Crafts, Glitter: Ranger, Bling: Kaisercraft.

What being a part of this team means to you: It means freedom to explore modern culture for inspiration. I have been pushed outside my comfort zone with interpreting the advert to the best of my abilities and have found that some of the thinking has resurfaced in other layouts.
